Biffy,
Save up dude and I'll chaperone ya round. Easter 2008 is the next event and its a gotta see show. Three days of none stop entertainment and aerobatics. Thats my old stompin ground. I've walked over many of those hills a huntin little birdies and big venisons mate. That show is as close as you can get to em. Try a P51, a Mk16 Spitfire and a Hurricane howling full throttle just 50 ft from you in formation. Your knees turn to Jelly dude. And the RC guys come from all over the country to put on a big tent full of planes on display. Bogan has been doing the lunch time display for about six or so years at least. Maybe even more. I was at it four years back and the local RC club had a big flyin the weekend B4. Its the Shiznits of airshows in the southern hemisphere. Richard. That F111 (PIG) was doing low passes or touch and goes. I did not think they could get them onto the runway for weight reasons??? Kiwi |

Yeah, bring Biffy Downunder and we can teach him to drink DB and Speights. Alan your'e right, The F111 can't land at Wanaka - it was doing a low approach and overshoot.
Also another note, the Bleriot is a rebuild of the genuine article, not a replica. Most of the WW1 aircraft displayed are owned by Movie producer Peter Jackson. |

Alan,
I think low approach is somewhat of an understatement in those circumstances. There used to be a company called bluecycle flicks that made a fantastic video of the weekend. I'm sure they were doing it again this year so I might tease the big dude and buy him an NTSC DVD of it. I could have kicked myself this year as we made plans to do away for easter with the kids. A week before easter the local Airline offered up $1200 return airfares to NZ for the Easter weekend. You dont know how close the kids came to not going fishing. Plus to rub salt into the wound there were no dang fish biting. DB would likely be a bit strong for old Biffy. Prolly need to start him off on a Steinlager or ten then work onto the harder stuff. These seps dont handle the licker too good away from home you know. I suppose in an emergency we could raid Bogans Red Bull stash to keep the old fella going. Kiwi |

Alan, Instead of writing "teach Biff to drink DB and Speights" perhaps it should read "introduce Biff to DB and Spreights!" I think I've got the task down pat! WONDERFUL coverage of the event. Some of the best camera work I've seen with full scale stuff. 2008 Easter, looks like I'll be South,,,WAY South to see this rascal in person. Awesome coverage of a BADASS show.

I would be remiss if I didn't see as much as time allows. I've heard wonderful things about Kiwiland, but I know Bogan. So I guess the balance is somewhere in the middle!!! Looking forward to being there and I've got some time to prepare!
