Kevin,

I posted this same question on a thread at RCUniverse. Their have been several replies to that thread from AFSalmon (Mike) since then.

This model is advertised as being able to take a .91 2stroke. I have an OS 1.20 that needs a home. It uses the same mounting pattern as a traditional .91, but obviously weighs a little bit more.

I just want to very directly ask and get an honest answer if you think the OS 1.20 is too much motor for it. I'd buy the larger 65" Yak or the 67" Fusion, but both ARFs are out of stock and will be for some time.

Thank you for your time,

David (Vahn)

There is a saying there is never too much power....but for this bird I would say the 120 would be a bit too much. I compared the Razor Yak to my 65" yak and boy what a difference. The wings are not as wide and the plane looks like it will cut through the air a lot better than the 65". But the rudder is bigger than the 65" and the elevators are wider than the 65" I will try to get some comparision photos up later tonight to show you the difference. I believe the 91 2 stroke or the new OS 75 (I believe it is a 75) will be a perfect choice for this airplane. I havnt flown one yet. I have two Razor Yaks sitting in my dorm room. One I am selling and the other one I am thinking about putting one together myself since we need a build thread on here about them. I wish I had a scale to weigh each piece here at the college but I dont! I might go and get one this weekend so I can do some comparing more in detail!!! Hope this answers your question. If you have any more please let me know. Hopefully mine will be up and going soon!

I like it! I'll have to wait until I can squeeze it into my hobby budget, but I'll have one, for sure.

Thanks. It's pretty hard to find 1.20 sized ARF profiles (in stock, anyhow).

After flying my razor yak this weekend, i have to say that the 120 would be to much for the plane, but for our 65" yak it would work fine. this yak is coming in around 6.5 to 7lbs. and my os 75 has crazy power on it as it is. i will try and post pics of it tonight

Nice!!! Brad do you think a OS 91 2 stroke or four stroke for mine??? Those are the only two motors I have for now.

the 2 stroke will be to much, i would say the 4 stroke would be your best bet. My 75 pulls it to good to say that you would need a bigger motor

I had a kit built Razor Yak with a Saito 100. Great airplane. I thought it tracked like no other profile. Highlights for me with this plane was the ridiculous walls, sweet inverted harriers and no brainer high alpha knife edge. It did everything very well. You can't go wrong with this one if you're in the market for a BIG profile. I wish I didn't sell mine but I just had too simplify the fleet. I know it's in good hands now though.

Thanks for that confirmation. Looks like I am going to be waiting for some time before the 65" Yaks (ARF) come back in.
