I have a Da on mine and i had to put 2 ounces on the tail. to cg to 7 in. only thing in front of my wing tube is the ignition and 1 servo and two pinflag switches. and behind is two regulators, 2 batteries, reciever, and the servos in the tail. I love the plane and have not yet had anyproblems with the airframe. I do think a high speed wall is an impressive manuver and when flying a sequence it adds an impressive spike in the action.

This will be a perfect electric conversion airplane. My .46-sized electric Reactor out-performs all glow Reactors I have ever seen, and that's only on 5 cells. In fact, it has the same vertical upline as a GP 65" bipe with a DA-50. If I need another big plane, this will definitely be a good home for my 10s-powered Hacker A60 power system.

I set my plane up with a DL 50 and stock muffler just like our narrator Mr. Sleep

The one thing I did with this plane set up wise that is worth mentioning is the weight I used to balance it out

I took an old servo and removed the guts of it and placed exactly four ounces of lead in it.

I placed the servo in one of the extra holes at the back and the thing is balanced right on the nose.

Plane flies like a champ. landings are a non issue as is the landing gear, did use four inch wheels and threw the wheel pants in storage

This is a GREAT PLANE

These planes must all be built with different densities of wood, because I didn't have to add any weight to get the plane to balance at 7". I'm using a DL-55 and stock muffler. I settled on a final CG of 7 3/4 (still no added weight)....and I really like it there. I did make a battery tray to put the cells in the first compartment behind the throttle servo to get to 7 3/4, though. It takes just a breath of down elevator inverted and knife edge took 1 to 2% mix to straighten out. I also ditched the wheel pants, traded the 24oz tank for a 14, 1-1100 mah a123 for ignition, 1-2300 a123 for main, carbon fiber wing tube (saved 11 oz), and replaced the pushrods and clevises.

This thing flies beautifully, and it rockets out of a hover with this combo at an altitude of 6000 feet above sea level. It still has a bit of wing rock, but has improved tremendously with the more rearward CG. It tracks very nicely.

Sleepy quotes his plane at 14.7 lbs dry.....and with my smaller battery packs, no wheel pants, carbon fiber wing tube, smaller tank, I'm comin in at 14.5. Something doesn't add up. The total weight savings of my components over stock is about 24oz. Either his scale or mine is not telling the truth. ????? I've heard other people saying they were under 15 dry, too.....so maybe its my scale. I guess it doesn't matter, it flies great.

Got the wing tube from Troy Built Models for about 30 bucks (7/8" diameter), had to sand a little bit for a perfect fit.

just a thought on the tank i only get 17 min on the stock tank and she will lean out and die and yes im getting every drop out of it. cutting the tank that much is going to kill flight time. i do fly imac and use alot of throttle so you might get more time out of yours.

Ken6881....I'm getting 12 minutes out of my 14 ounce tank with about 4 ounces to spare. I'm flying pattern maneuvers and mild 3d the whole time. Engine only has 1 gallon through it so far, so it should get better after break in when I lean the bottom. On the stock tank I could fly about 20 minutes and still have roughly half the tank left. What engine are you running? I'm at 6000 feet of elevation, too....so there is less air up here which could account for some of the lower fuel consumption. I don't know....I thought 1 ounce per minute was pretty normal with 50cc planes.....I'm pretty close to that....a little under. I feel like I lose concentration at much more than 10 or 12 minutes at a time. Can you run IMAC with this plane?....I wanted to try it (there is a meet in Fort Collins coming up), but the guys over here said you have to use a scale plane. What prop are you using?

SportFlyer.....what do your batteries weigh? I'm just trying to run the math backwards to either confirm or nullify my measured weight. I wonder what that engine weighs, too. My batteries weigh 9oz total. I'm using 3 equalizers....I only have a 6 channel radio.

I did the ultimate stupid thing yesterday with my Reactor. I took off , and made my turnaround at about 40 feet in the air and a 15 mph tailwind....reached up with my finger to switch rates, and killed the ignition instead. Our runway is dirt with rough adobe ground all around it, and I wasn't over it at the time. I made a quick turn back into the wind, and barely made the runway before I ran out of airspeed....the plane plopped onto the ground from about four feet up, though. Hurt the fuselage around the gear, but I got it repaired today.....just need to replace some covering, now. I'll be moving my rate switch to the other side of the radio....what a moron! Could have been a lot worse, I guess. Bent the muffler outlet, too.
