when I took the wings off, a wooden dowel fell out of my wing tube. The stock wing tube seems pretty strong, is this needed? Or should I try and glue it back in?
Mine did the same and i just glued it back in, like mentioned above you could always get one from Troy built if you got an extra $20

All,
I am finishing up my Reactor and I seem to need to add 7oz to the tail to get the CG balanced. I have a DA50 with a pitts muffler. Batteries are mounted back about 5 inches back from the recommended CG point. Batteries are two sets of 5 cell batteries stacked on top of each other.
Has anybody had to add about the same amount of weight if you have a similar setup? I have read where people are adding 4 oz but not 7.
Any tips would be great.

Thank you

I just made a battery try further back. the plane flys awesome as is but b/c a 3d monster with it just a little tail heavy. flys like a 3d able pattern plane at recommended cg. I love mine.

Are big planes truly easier to hover than small ones? or is that just a kind of myth.?

No myth.
Bigger = slower due to mass and surface area, so they fly bigger and slower and kind of react slower, smaller planes tend to be a bit twitchier. But since a foamie has less mass and wingloading then even a Giant Scale plane, they tend to be the easiest to do just about anything with. (also the pucker factor is lower) So if you want to learn 3D, rock out with a foamie or the sim and go from there.

My reactor landing gear did not make it past a awsome glide of a landing. The crappy landing gear has no streangth at all. makes me mad!

Messed up the Reactor pretty good yesterday...Waited too late to pull out of an inverted flat spin and with the wind she kept rotating instead of rolling out. When she did finally roll out, i was too low to recover and put it in hard on the gear. Tore out the gear and some of the bottom past the gear, broke the muffler, and cracked the right side counter-balance on the elevator.
so now "Old Faithful" is down. I'll see if I can put her back together...

Dang, Zet...sorry to see that...btw, we flew yesterday at Kbay...I have a set of wheel pants coming for my Reactor...the OEM foam tires were too soft, and the pants were bottoming-out, especially when flying on a grass runway...I now use firmer 3.5-in Dubro...the hubs are little narrower, so I use spacers...Aloha...Ken

Hopefully I'll get it repaired and back in the air soon. I'm at the doctor right now and it's 3 hours away so this day is shot. Tomorrow I have to take the dog to the vet so most of tomorrow is gone and I work the rest of the week. Wish I was still over ther with y'all. That was really nice to be able to relax like we did. Usually when we go on vacation we have to rest up when we get back from "vacationing" but not this time...LOL !!! Can't wait to go back.

On your wheels I went with the hangar9 skylites I believe as the stock ones always flatspotted. I don't run pants on mine but I'm thinking of running them after repair. I have a set of carbon gear to try.

When I had the other brand engine on it the first time and it quit on me I was about at the same height but had just pulled out of a hover and deadsticked downwind and tweaked the gear then. I guess I'm glad that it was already a weak spot or it would have been alot worse this time around. Actually it looked alot worse cause it went in pretty hard but I was almost in the clear so it went in flat as it caught the gear. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get it back together soon and get alot more flights out of it.

Iv only been flying for a little over 3 years and iv noticed that you never really start to enjoy a plane and have real fun with it until its hit the ground once or twice
