Herve Lejeune (Performance Aircraft Unlimited) flew my Reactor today and gave it a hearty thumbs-up. He was impressed by the HS-7955's speed. Lots of fun. I flew his DA-120 powered Extra300SP prototype last week. The radio and electronics from my Reactor can transfer into it very nicely. All I would need is the plane and the engine. Hmmmmmm.

Haven't gotten it airborne yet but hopefully soon. I've been working alot lately but I have gotten the new gear plate I fabbed up in and the new gear mounted...and I did that in about an hour of working on it... Now if I can get another two hours to work on it I should have it ready to go barring anything major comes up...

I had a friend I fly with call me to tell me my muffler is ready ( he welded it up for me where it broke) so I have no excuses now...LOL !!!

Yes we visited the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island but we ran out of time that day. That's pretty cool that you get to put on an airshow on Ford. Wish I could be there to see it in person. If there is a video link put up after please PM me the link. While we were there we did the Mighty Mo, USS Arizona Memorial, and the PA Museum all the same day...wish we could have spent more time there...There's always next year I guess...plus I gotta get me another one of those Wailuas, I can't find them here in Texas even at the Kona Distributor...LOL !!!

What are "Wailuas"?
We had a nice flying day today...Herve flew his 43% Edge, my flying buddy maidened his PAU Extra300L w/ DA-50, and I flew my Reactor...BTW, my favorite props so far, in order are PAU 23-3Da, Vess 23A, and Mejzlik 22x10. Pics of the Extra and my Reactor:

I'll be going to the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange tomorrow. They have a good selection of Kona Brewing products. I'll try a 6-pack. I increased the end-points on my Reactor elevators to 140%. Now I have enough to stall the wing and practice 3D so I can fly like you. Also put 15% expo on the rudder. We just got word that the Rimpac Exercises are over, so we will be flying at the Marine Corps base tomorrow. When I first flew the PAU23-3Da, I was a little behind the aircraft (over-rotating on snap-rolls, goofy knife-edges, etc.) After getting used to the snappier control responses, I like it a lot.
EDIT: The Wailuas were $10.49/six-pack

Hey Zet...to tell you the truth, my drinking buddy and I are not that enthused over the Wailua. The passion fruit flavor is a nice novelty, but I go for the gusto...BTW, thanks to a tip for Herve Lejeune (PAU), I now terminate my knife-edges by going inverted followed by a half-outside loop...a lot more stable that inputting aileron and rudder in the same direction...Did you see the sale of PAU ARCs?

Yeah it is something different. I end mine by just punching the throttle and doing half a knife-edge loop and either roll straight cut the throttle and pull a hammerhead or 1/4 roll inverted and pull a 45° downline then 1/2 roll in the middle and pull to level flight. You just have to get creative.

I modified the canopy to give it more strength for the DA-50 engine. The canopy was taking a beating, and actually flew off when the front-end of the canopy assembly broke off in flight. I lost the dowels, former, some styofoam, and balsa sheeting. The original design is probably fine if you use the four bolts to secure the canopy. However I use the dowels and strong magnets at the rear to secure the canopy. The four plywood lugs with blind nuts only position the canopy laterally. The four socket-head bolts are not used and I covered the holes. I install and remove the canopy easily - with a snap of clamping magnets. My mod replaces the thin 3/32 balsa sheeting, styofoam, 1/8 lite ply, and 1" dowels with stronger stuff (basically a box made with 2 long dowels, balsa sheeting, and plywood formers that is slid in and epoxied to the existing outer structure.) The first two pictures are SleepyC's...
