I've flown this plane with no power system on 2.4 and it worked fine.
Hooked up a Power Expander Pro to a JR 921 Rx and everything works ok, but the Rx lights are blinking and it's driving me crazy. If I unplug all of the power expander plugs and turn the Rx on, the lights are steady. I can then plug all of the PE plugs into the Rx and the lights stay steady. When I turn off and then back on, the Rx lights blink. I tried to rebind, but can't figure out how with the PE hooked up. THanks for any ideas. Bob

Email SM right away. They are always prompt and helpful.
Things I would look at. Don't plug power into the battery port of the RX. Use your other channels for the power. Are you sure the PE isn't in any of the function menus?

Thanks for the reply sweetpea.
Is there a thread on the power hookup? Someone else mentioned the same thing. The instructions say not to plug any of the PE plugs into a battery port, but nothing about not plugging the power plugs from the PE into Rx battery ports. Can you elaborate on, "Are you sure the PE isn't in any of the function menus?" Turns out that I went back to it later on, and everything is working as it should now? Still working on how to bind with the expander hooked up. Take care Bob

As a general rule you do not want to plug anything into the power slot on a spektrum RX that has the signal line in place. grounding the signal line in the power slot is what puts the Rx into bind mode, Castle Creations BECs have had this problem inthe past. MOST pieces of electronics don;t have a problem but some do.
If the PE isn't actually doing anything with the signal line on the power connector, simply remove it from the connector that is plugged int the RX, or plug the connecter into an unused servo slot and leave the power socket empty on the RX. |

Why are you having trouble figuring out how to bind the rx with it hooked up to the power expander? There should be nothing plugged into the batt/bind or data ports for the power expander so they should be free. As far as how to get something plugged into those ports, put servo extensions in them and then plug the bind plug/data logger into them. On mine, I ran them to the outside so that I could do what I needed to while the plane was assembled.
As for the rapid blinking, if you have control of the plane while it is doing this, it is a power disruption issue, not a binding issue. The newer style rx's blink rapidly like that to let you know that the voltage dropped below 3.7 volts at some point, even for an instant. If this is happening on power-up, it could be something with your other pieces of equipment not working properly, like the regulators if you have them or with the PE itself.

I got it all sorted out.
After cycling the power, the lights acted normally. Didn't need to rebind and everything is working normally. Thanks for the reply Bob

This is a known issue really and has nothing to do with the PE.
I suggest you try turning on the system in a different order, IE plane first, and then radio, and vice versa. I have seen this happen many times and talked to 2 team JR guys who confirmed it. The blinking lights after a flight show a power issue, on startup it generally didn't like the order it was turn on with.
