Clearly this question and the answers it generated are confined to who is the best scale aerobatic/pattern/3D pilot currently. Guys, there is a HUGE world of RC outside of this restricted little corner of the hobby. Hard to believe, but true none the less.
I tried to point that out in my first response. So let's really limit it. Who is the best right handed American pilot raised in Nevada and golfs light out too? Who is the best pilot born in Japan, lived in Yuma, grew up in Henderson ? Who is the best pilot from south America who now lives in the US and flies a JR radio? Who is the best pilot from New Zealand who flies an Extra 260 and can drink his own weight in beer? Who is the best pilot with the initials AJ and that lives in Michigan? And on and on. |

World wide F3A is the measure of an aerobatic pilot so that puts
CPLR 4 and counting. Modern times best Hanno early days best Chip for doing it in 2 disciplines, that is amazing Wolfgang Matt for still being a finalist at the age of well whatever, he is old. for longevity In Scale Aerobatics hands down what Mark Leseberg Jr. did last year was unbelievable. He flew unknowns like knowns. His point rolls are better then anyones, His snaps are crisp and they do autorotate. Foamies Leseberg again, he is an innovator. |

The best of the bests of all times with no doubt is Hanno Prettner,he competed in 8 T.O.C`s and won them all,he competed in 7 F3A World Championships and again won them all.In 1991 Chip won it Hanno didn`t compete that year, his last WC was in 93 and he won,he didn`t compete ever again. He won the Worlds in 1983 with a plane called Calypso his own design and that plane was giving to Formula 1 legend Airton Senna from Brazil.
Besides that he won the European Championships 16 times. He never lost a competetion to someone that`s amazing he retired undefided. I wonder who can rival those credentials nowadays,Christophe has 4 in the bags and he`s still thirsty for more, and he`s won the European champs 4 times too. Quique,Chip and the up and coming Tetsuo Onda from Japan he`s 18 and is second best of the World. It`s his second Worlds participation and is allready 2nd best,i think he will be the next one. |

Hearing about some of the oL' school fliers, Man I would have loved to see them perform. As for who's the best?................. that almost changes on a day to day basis in this hobby. I like the guy who is innovative, comes up with new routines, I firmly believe Mark Leseberg won the TSO because he changed his program, it was different from past ones he had and Really enjoyable.
As for the NEW guys (Young) I would have to say Ido Segev, from Israel. and Kyle W. are the ones to watch.............I still say youth is wasted on the young!..... As far as current pilots go, and if you could Only pick one.................Have to be Qui Qui for all he has meant and brought to the sport As far as who is OVER rated , way too many for this thread,.........lol Chuck |

What Hanno Prettner did will never be topped. In his day he was flying with just as good of competition as the top pilots today. Even CPLR gets beat, Roland Matt won the Euro Champs last year. He was forth at the 2004 shootout. Even Dan Gable lost once . Hanno won them all.
