I think that the best pilot of all times is Quique Somenzini. Only because he was 13 consecutive years F3A Argentinian Champion, F3A South American Champion in many times and 4 times TOC Champion. And he left us the best gift, 3D maneuvers.

The first recorded prophang was with a control line model in 1949. It had a special link up which controlled throttle, the pilot blipped the throttle on and off effectivelly hovering the model.

I would still say Hanno, he won every event he entered, and to say that the competition back then was not as good as today is like saying baseball players like Mickey Mantle, Willy Mays, and Hank Aaron are not as good as todays players.

True, not to mention the equipment he had compared to todays equipment, Planes, Radios, servos, etc.
I just like QQ's Flying and his personality and openness to the public...........not the holier than thou attitude you sometimes see. Chuck |

I have 4 favorites all for different reasons. Mark Leseberg for perfecting rolling manuevers and putting good music in his freestyle. Hanno for being a pioneer and showing true innovation. QQ for stretching 3D to what it is today and last but certainly not least Chip Hyde for true domination of the sport in several different types of aircraft. Both Chip and Mark have helped and inspired me to "want" to be a better pilot. All 4 have the desire that it takes to go to the next level.
