After a little break in building we have returned with a fresh start and new ideas. The comp arf is about 2-3 days away from paint and I'm getting antsy'er every day. The plan is to finish everything, linkages and such, then paint and do a final check and fly! Some changes from the past radio setup,
::Bought a 9cap super ::PowerBox (champion 40:24) ::One reciever ::It will be painted with extreme care towards weight and finish. The scheme will be a classic line/curve type scheme with a twist in colors. Here are some pics from the past as a refresher

Both the radio tray and servo tray were fabricated and we layed up carbon to give it a nice finish. The pb/rx tray is staggered above and is removable!

Sean,
Can I expect to see you out at one of the Balt/DC area IMAC contests this year? First contest is the first weekend in May in Centreville, MD. CAPI IMAC is last weekend in August at PGRC. I'm the CD. Dave Michael |

Sean,
Last year we were told that Winchester Homes was buying the land surrounding the PGRC field and would be building homes all around it. Thankfully, since then, Winchester has backed out of the sale. It's probably only a matter of time until another builder comes in- there is development all around us. NVRC doesn't have a field right now. I'll look for your registration as we get closer to the contest. In the meantime, if you hit any other contests, look for me and I'll do the same. Dave PS- I have an all white 3 meter Comp ARF Extra in my basement too. I am in the middle of painting. |

Teamsme,
Just a small observation and a question. Do you have a velco mount on the rx or is it stuck down with double sided tape. While your rx has no crystal to vibrate out I would still try and mount it on a foam base if possible. The composite planes really dont dampen any vibration like wood does so that flat plate you have it mounted on is going to the shake the heck out of your rx if you have any vibration at all. And there is vibration without doubt. I know it looks really neat the way you have it all setup but one of those nice little foam rx boxes may just make life for you electronics a whole lot better. Just a thought and suggestion. Kiwi |

Not much progress lately do to a long week, so here's an update. Due to the short length from the head to the mounting brackets on the 5945s the slot on the ailerons had to be milled out towards the servo, leaving an unsightly gap. To remedy this, balsa was hysol'd in and a thin layer of epoxy was spread over the balsa to give it some strength.
