Default Independant testing on servo torque???

Just curious if anyone has or knows someone who has tested the 5955TG servo. Hitec claims 333oz.in at 6 volts, but I was just kinda holding the servo in my hand with my thumb against the servo arm at about an inch out and can easily stall it when I try to move it. Obviously this is a Flintstones-type method, but I didn't think I would be able to hold back a servo with nearly 21 pounds of torque by my thumb!!!??? anyone verified their claimed rating?

How long was the servo arm??? The further out you push on the arm the easier it is to stall the servo.

If torque is, lets say 20kg at 1cm then it will be 10 kg at 2 cm and then 5 at 3cm I think???? I havnt had to do maths for ages but I know that the lever effect is quite dramatic.

This is also why some guys are setting up dedicated IMAC aircraft with short servo arms and longer control horns to increase the mechanical effect of the torque that their servo puts out.

As well as needing less servo power with this set up they can use more of the available resolution of their servo as their is no need to 'dial' the throw down from the transmitter.

Anyway I hope that sorta makes sense??????

Woops sorry I didnt see that u said u were holding the arm about an inch out from the servo!!!!

You would be suprised though how much force you can apply with just your thumb. Something I do know about as I am in the medical imaging business and know a little about bones and muscles.

I tried the same thing with mine, but I was Not able to stall them. They tried to rip my thumbs off. I was amazed at their power.

I have been curious if the stated values are for the torque it generated to move to a desired point or if it is just holding power. I'd like to hang 333 oz on a 1" horn and see if it will essentially do pullups with that weight when hanging off the side of a table.
