Default Matching Paint

I have a 1/4 scale Pitts that needed some surgery on the cowl.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get paint matched/mixed? I have some monokote that I put up for reference and it's not dark enough, so buying the matching monokote paint is out. I know you can get latex paint color matched, and I was thinking of checking to see if wal-mart or home depot could match it in an epoxy paint (without buying a gallon!). Thanks for any suggestions!

Nelsons is good stuff. Easy to use. No smell. But he says the paint he needs doesn't match Monokote. Getting a custom mix from Jerry would be difficult. Your best bet is a good quality exterior latex. Poly-c isn't really nessasary with a gas engine but will prolong the life of the paint. Do yourself a favor if you use latex. Let it cure a week before you expose it to gas/exhaust.

If you don't mind using automotive basecoat/clearcoat, see if you have a Dupont automotive paint dealer nearby. They have a device that takes three snapshots of your covering and comes up with a paint code (assuming one exists to match it). I have been using the Dupont Chroma base on my last couple planes....the match is exceptional. They can even have it mixed and put into a spray bomb for you. The only downsides are you have to clear and if you don't have a booth, the fumes are horrendous
