Peptrick,

Do you like the 8711's? I have a 8711 on my 110" EF Yak Rudder and the shaking is very annoying. It will be nice when the Hitec 7950's come out and it looks like they are going to be the same price as a 8711.

I have had no problems with my 8711s. Well..I take that back..I had one strip on the outer aileron of my big Yak...sent it in to JR and got it back a few days later. I dropped the wing in the bag..but I guess the aileron was down..so it must have tweaked it...I have well over 100 flights on the Yak..so so far so good. I dont have any slop either....Other than a few bad linkage hookups which I took care of...The servos are solid...

If I could get my kid to fly with me, I would have him in a 40% plane and he is 11. I think the kid is asking reasonable questions...trying to do his homework and not afraid to ask a couple of questions. After all he is a teenager and should know everything by now. So he is fact finding..he is not telling you some crazy story that says he is buying a $3800.00 Comp-Arf pitts python and 10 grand worth of electronics and motor. He is asking questions about reasonably priced 40% airplanes. At least he is asking quesitons instead of just assuming he knows everything...like a lot of posts from others on here.
thank you very much

I guess I will continue to look for a "crap" plane to put my stuff in.

Go ahead and jump on me, the j-tec flys better than any 260-300 ive flown to date, just ask the Tank about his j-tec . The construction is of kit quality.Yes ive flown a 39lb carden 260.

I'm with Pep, you should look into a Comp-ARF, I really like the way my 260 came right out of the building room(INSTALL ROOM), not sure about the Yak yet, Don't know anything about the airplanes you have listed, I'm just stuck to Comp-ARF's

I don't think that any of your listed options is a bad choice. I do think that a lot of guys let how light their wallet feels after purchasing influence how well the plane flys. I have been looking for a while for a new 40% for next season myself and have looked quite a bit at different new and used setups. I have been lucky enough to try out a few really nice planes. I think that the AW 260 flys as good as any, its offers good value and doesn't take a lot of work to put in the air.

Since this thread is about opinions..I will give you mine .

Extra 260

Pros:
Lighter than the Yak
1 piece landing gear
Its and Extra
Red with Black checkers scheme is awesome
Great 3d and IMAC plane
little less money than the Yak

Cons:
The original scheme is ugly
thats about it

Yak 54

Pros:
New color scheme is awesome
Old color scheme looks good but is growing old
Great for IMAC

Cons:
2 piece gear with a hard bend going into the fuse (so far does not appear to be a big problem)
Yak is not scale..the cowl and fuse are flat on the sides (Un Yak like)
little more money than the Extra
Thats it

Both planes are really nice..I prefer the Extra due to the high visibility colors..but the real reason is..I am Yakked out..My last 5 planes have been Yaks...and I got the 260.
