Yeah huh!

I went round and round with the builder on this, because the material on the plane has a white back-covering and Ultracote from Horizon has yellow back color. He could not explain it, why the back color is different, but he sent me a photo of a roll of it with the "Oracover" name and numbers on it.

Oracover and Ultracote are the same thing, one is sold in Germany and around the world while Ultracote is sold in the US by Horizon.

Here's that photo.

Tom-

They must sell a different shade of color in bulk.. Mine is a little bit different color than that of the plane..

However, outside the difference could probably not be spotted unless I told someone.. Inside in the light, it's very different..

I guess the white backsheet is causing some color differences..

I realize that this thread has been quiet for a long time, but it seems like an appropriate place to ask if anyone has flown the 88" Slick from Wild Hare. They appear to be treated as the same plane on their web site, which is understandable as they basically are the same. I'd be real interested to see a video of the Slick or at least hear some feedback.

No, they are doing a 50cc version as well. Just no pics yet as far as I know. Apparently they will be here in late October/early Nov. I plan to buy one of the electric Slicks when they come out.

If you look at the lineage, both the Slick, Extra 230/260, and Edge share a common predecessor in the Laser/Z230. The Extras used a very similar planform and control surface layout to the Laser, and then evolved into the later plastic EA-300 versions. The Edge uses a very similar tail and aft fuse of the Laser. The Slick is a throwback to the Laser and early Extra 260, and according to the Slick company the wings, tail, control surfaces, and fuse layout is directly copied from the Laser/EA-260. It is just completely plastic (composite) vice the steel tube fuse/tail and plywood wing of the Laser/Extra 230 and the cowling is very similar to the Edge (actually closer to the Giles fwiw).

Therefore if we take the fuse from a Edge and use a wing planform of the Extra we have a very close representation of a scale Slick 540. This is what Wild Hare is doing for the Slick. They also have a Giles/MX2 pair coming out, using a Giles fuse/tail with an Extra wing.

As an aside, the original full-scale Cap 232 (Cap 231EX) attached a carbon Extra wing to an existing Cap 230 fuse. The Extra wing was believed to snap better.
