Piper mine arrived on wednesday. Now all I need are a few servos a battery and a couple of switches. As for a build thread it is going to be short. There is really not much to do. Did you order the hardware kit with yours?

Yes ordered the hardware kit along with the new economy priced canister from Tom. I have no idea who makes them or have even seen a pic of them. Wild Hare seems to be well trusted so I figure it might be worth saving over a K&S. |

Tom has always been honest and had good products. I would like a little more info on his canister setup too. As for the hardware kit I think you will like it. Out of all of the ARFs I have built I think his hardware kit is one of the best.

I'm using 1" for ailerons, 1.25" for elevators, and 3" for rudder as that's what I have handy from my Airwild 260. It was way enough for the 260 as they could max out the throws easily. Hmm, checked the manual and they didn't list suggested size arms. Good question because I was wondering the same thing. Your arms seem a bit big to me, but this is only my second 50cc so I'm not totally sure as all other manuals I've had listed the sizes. I'd rather use arms that'd let me take use of the whole range of servo travel without limiting it so much however.

Elevators and ailerons do not need anything longer than 1-1/4" arms. Most people will like them set up with the linkage in the 1-1/8" holes for max deflections. If you use a tail mounted servo the same 1-1/4" arm is great. If you go pull-pull a 3" double arm is just right.

Oh yeah, forgot about the tail mounted rudder servo option! LOL, 3" would look pretty funny there. ![]() Using the Airwild arms, I have no other holes on mine so what I get is what I get. I like the arms though as they look cleaner than a swiss cheese looking arm with all the adjustment holes. Yes, that's being pretty picky. I'd rather dial the travel down on the TX than to have to up the travel on the TX as depending on your servos you might not have enough travel in them. Depending on the resolution setting on your servo, atleast for my HS 7955's you can get a differance in travel of about 30 degrees or so and I'm thinking that'd reduce the ability to increase travel. Than you also have to watch out for getting into bad geometry with your servo throw and if your servos are pushed to the max than they're putting out less power when forced to hold at such an extreme angle. Atleast that's what I've been taught. Back on topic though, check out the Airwild arms as well and thanks Old Man for the reassurance. Just for future referance, what size arms would you want for a 35%? About the same? |

It really depends on what engine you're using. If for say you have a heavy engine like a stock G62 you'd want it in the tail to help offset the weight of the heavy engine. I'm using a DA50R in mine and being light, I'm using the forward spot. So what engine are you stuffing in her Tram?
The choice is pretty much set for us, lol. One less decision to make. I also like the idea of the servo on the inside as one less servo sticking out of the tail will keep the plane looking more scale like.

HEY GUYS; TIRED OLD MAN IS REAL CLOSE ON THIS ONE. MY RUDDER ARM IS SWB 3'' . THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE IS THAT FOR 45 DEGREE DEFLECTION THE CABLES DRAG THE FOREWARD SLOT IN THE FUSELAGE. YOU CANNOT SLOT THEM ANYMORE. YOU RUN OUT OF HARDWOOD. THE BETTER SOLUTION IS USE THE 4'' ARMS AND THEN MOVE YOUR CLEVISES FARTHER OUTWARD FROM YOUR RUDDER. JUST DIAL SOME END POINT OUT OF THE TRANSMITTER. RESOLUTION SHOULD STILL BE AROUND 100%
