Very little progress at the moment. No pictures. Too busy with work and other things..... amongst which building a small Electric Foam Bird Dog plane with my 6-yr old son.
Just looked around on the internet tonight and found a build story of a full scale Laser, nice to see ;-) Here it is http://www.pitts-special-team.de/Laser/2_10_covers.html When you are at the bottom of that page, click home for more pictures of his build. |

Mine is still pretty much like in the pictures above. I have added a tank, some tubing, almost ready to install the throttle servo. I want to get the motor to run soon, since it is has been laying around for a couple of years. Want to make sure it runs good before I am going to order the Y-header for the tuned pipe.
Furthermore I have been looking at installing the landing gear, the part that needs to go under the plane is not completely square and the locknuts which were already in the plane are not lined up nicely...... so I have been looking, trying, measuring, and at the end of the evening decided to leave it for the moment, since I was too tired and was afraid I would screw it up. All in all it's not going as quick as I would like to, but this is my first wooden non-ARF and my first large scale. I have made quite a number of foam planes, but they can be finished in 2-3 evenings, a different story ;-) |

It's finally on it's wheels!!!!
![]() Not sure whether I will get another spinner, with this one the prop seems rather small... and it is very heavy, about 200 grams of Aluminum. ![]() Also two pics of the Bird Dog I am building with my oldest son, and a pic of his new design (from Lego) that he wants to build from depron after the Bird Dog is finished. Worked on the turtle deck and one of the wings tonight. Must say that it's more difficult to get the turtle deck neat and tidy than I expected.
I finally have one wing ready to cover, I double beveled the trailing edge of the wing to allow the ailerons for a lot more deflection. Decided to leave the ailerons in the original size. No pics from the progress so far, hope to get some more work done this week, will take some pics then. |

Here are some pictures. On the 3rd picture you can see how I cut away part of the stab and elevator, because I will enlarge the elevators.
On the 4th picture you see the work in progress on hatch and turtledeck. Balsa sheeting is just laying loosely on top. |

Tonight I covered all edges and the bottom side of the left wing. The edges between aileron and wing are quite time consuming since all hinges are still in there..... Anyway, here is just a pic.

Finished one wing. I am not very quick, but I am very satisfied with how nice the wing turned out. There will be decals on the wing later.
