Any word on a 100cc version? I have no interest 40%ers anymore.
BTW - the blue scheme looks nice. The red one is terrible. I am glad you're giving your customers options! Last edited by dubd; 12-10-2008 at 04:02 PM. |

Everything else is the same. from the pilot seat back is even built on the same jig. All the other dimentions are the same. a 20 is really just a 10 with a front seat. The turbine Toucan is actually a modified Pitts 12. Blue Skies, Rob

Does anybody have any opinions on what the primary differences would be between the Ultimate and the Pitts? it seems like the Ultimate should come in a bit lighter (if the specs are correct). Any other differences that might help people decide between the two planes.

I stand corrected by Ulti1
The 10-300 and 20-300 are actually the same volume aircraft. I never actually compared the specs side by side only looked at the 3 views. The 20-300 with the two place canopy and the wing moved foward in three view makes it look longer when in fact all it did was change the tail moment. Sorry for posting incorrect information! That being said the larger side area due to the two place canopy should help us in the model for knife edge. Strecth that bad boy out and you have one He!! of an airplane. I am off to the dunce corner (My punishment is hanging christmas light in 30 degrees with wind at 20) |

From what we've seen, I would expect the construction of the planes to be very similar, but cosmetically, different.
The bottom wing will still bolt on through the bottom, all electronics will be mounted through the bottom of the plane, no room for a canister tunnel, all very similar to the Pitts. This is a positive for sloppy builders like me and those of us running 6014 receivers.. no direct sunlight to worry about! Both wings on the Ultimate are the same length, where the Pitts had a slightly longer top wing. Accordingly, the Pitts has a slightly greater wing area. The fuse is also slightly longer in the Ultimate, explains the 2-seater cockpit instead of the 1-seat in the Pitts. The stabs and elevators on the Pitts are flat, but they are airfoiled on the Ultimate. Both have a flat rudder. Obviously, the wing detail, cowl, rudder/elevator design, etc.. would reflect the Ultimate style. The Pitts had a fairly long moment (fuse), making it a more stable flyer, but less of a scale aircraft. I don't know how they plan to make it longer, with airfoiled surfaces, but lighter... by the way, the Pitts came in at a chubby 19 pounds!! That was with a smoke system... but not a 2 pound smoke system! No matter.. the Pitts was probably the funnest plane I ever owned, and I've regretted selling it for several months. I'm considering the 150 sized Ultimate should my Hangar 9 Ulltimate ever meet an untimely demise. Oh MAN... I never paid attention to the tease on teh 50cc Ultimate photos page... the red/yellow/black pictures are actually teh 150cc plane! it says so on the photos, but I didn't read it until now. Looks like the 150 sized plane also has airfoiled stabs ... and rudder Last edited by reyn3545; 12-10-2008 at 11:11 PM. |

Hello All!! New member here... I am a modeller but not into it as big as most in the threads I have been keeping an eye on... Just curious... If any of the big companies out there want info on the Ultimates give me an email... I have noticed that the Ultimates 10-300 and now the 20-300 out there are all lacking scale looks of the Ultimate and what it should really look like... Not to put any negatives out there would just love to help if any would want... I have access to tons of info pics of the 10-300 and the 20-300. I have collected al the plans from the early days of Gordon Price. I do have olds for the full scale as well for a good visual if need be.. I noticed one company is now doing the 20-300. Good to see!!!
Check out my site www.yorkaircraft.com Maybe some of ya would want a bigger model... I see some of thes 50% guys are more than a real plane!!! Incredible!! Devin York York Enterprises devin.york@sympatico.ca |

There are several differences between the real Ultimates and as well there are similarites.
There are differences in the following -wings " truss style ribs in the full scale" span difference -wings 2 styles were available... TRUSS THICK AIRFOIL fabric covered --- then the " S " wing THINNER PLY WEBBED RIBS ply covered wing and shorter in span -Length in the fuselages -Geometry in the fuselages -Tails / Rudder identical -Stab / Elevator identical -Cowl identical -10-300 single place -20-300 2 place tandem -same engine mounts / gear - As well the cowls could be ordered in different variations as well but overall the shapes looked the same as well as inlets - One cowl had a smallinlet below spinner "smile" -Other cowl below spinner was smooth Regards Devin To name a few things - |

That's a really cool website! Go ahead and make me one of those Pitts S1's... do you take a check?
I think a lot of the differences between the models and the real thing have more to do with making a model simpler to balance, and as easy to fly as possible, given that the thrust ratios are so much higher in the models. Everyone wants something that jumps out of a hover, flies like a rocket and won't snap out of the sky on a slow final turn..... so the manufacturers take a few liberties with the specs! |

Hello Devin,
Thank you for your interest in the airplane. You are in fact right about them not being exact to the scale airplane. As a competitor, you are allowed a 10% deviation from the full scale airplane to make the plane fly better or suit your needs. In this case, I have changed a few things to get more side lift in knife edge, less pitch and roll coupling as well as enhance the performance with the air-foiled tail. As you know, most full scale airplanes will not hold knife edge flight and the have terrible pitch and roll coupling that you seem to as a pilot just fix it by stick pressure. In this case, we are all striving to make the airplane neutral in all axis. Airplanes are due in about 2 weeks! Best Wishes, JN
