Default My wing snapping wall aftermath. . .

H9 Sukoi w/ a DA100. . .

1/3rd throttle and inverted I go for a wall and the port side wing explodes into confetti. Almost nutted a knife edge landing, but I blew it right at the end.

Here's the carnage. . .

H9 makes a Sukhoi designed for a 100? Been there myself but was lucky enough to land with minimal damage.

No......H9 makes a 33% SU-31 that alot of folks put the 100's in.

Isn't this plane known for wing failures?

That's what I fugured. I am sure the 100 added a couple pounds, which adds stress to the wing. I don't think the wing should have failed, but unfortunately, powering the aircraft with a larger, heavier engine is enough evidence for Horizon to not have to do anything about it.

wasn't there a time that this model was being packaged with a zenoah gt-80 twin by horizon? i would think a gt-80 would be much heavier than a da100 in terms of weight.

Yah Dammit. Dont get me started. I Have a brand new/old su-31 ive been sitting on for years (doesnt make a good chair anyway, HAHA) and i really want to put a hunad in it???? I will no doubt have to go thru it and glue the Bejesus out of it, if i want it to hold up to todays or my 3D standards. I never liked the color scheme anyway(recover). The Zenoah GT-80 IS heavier than a DA-100. I think the quality and amount of glue when these were made was poorly sufficient. At least at some point in time. Ive seen some get the crap flown out of them with no issues and some dont even get a running start. Mabey serial numbers would have helped pinpoint a problem. Why dont they give planes serial numbers like DA's engines. That would be cool.

Sorry to hear about your plane nes. The color scheme looked cool too. What did you use for covering?

Sorry to hear about the plane.

I know this is off topic, but I am planning a trip out your way in the summer for the Rally. Several of us are going that fly R/C. Are there any local clubs that are friendly to visitors that week?

Well, for what it's worth, this plane had gone through two owners prior to me and none of them are known for being nice to airframes.

I got my fun meter's worth so I wasn't too bummed. The "almost knife edge landing" made it "almost worth it."

Besides, gave me the kick in the pants to get the new Aeroworks 100 yak in the RWB color scheme.

She's in the garage now and assembly begins after I finish my Sundowner.

Woo hoos!

Well, got the SD up in the air today. Fun plane. I was able to borrow the runway at the muni airport here in Sturgis. Very cool! Pun intended.

-13F today during the maiden. I had some issues with the motor acting goofy at full boogie. I think it was icing up the carb. I still need to block off part of the cowl too, but she flew well with the Moki.

So, it's midnight on a Friday, just left the little woman's house and now it's time to get to building the new YAK.

Pics to follow.

Cheers.
