I did a Zweibel-turn in my 2007 XFC known routine

It is started on a vertical upline with negative snap rolls that you flatten out as the airspeed reaches zero. Then, input your upright flat spin controls and come right back down through your own smoke.

The guys with full size MX-2s do them really well by heading up in a right hand "shoulder roll", then flattening that out at the top and adding left rudder to come back down.

Think of it as a reverse blender. Loosely, the same controls but all about timing.

You all want a really good book, check out "The Four Minute Freestyle" by Xavier de Lapparent. Awesome resource on full size free manuevers.

Sorry didn't mean to jump in, just enthusiastic hehe... And I really like this maneuver.

Matt,

That flight routine you did in that Laser was nothing short of unbelievable!!!! Also, thank you for posting the story of your Laser as well. I love anything to do with aviation history!
I grew up in southern Maryland and when I was a kid, I was lucky enough to see many great airshows at Andrews Air Force Base and the Patuxant River Naval Air Station. And I can remember watching Leo fly the Bud Light Laser a few times and all I can say is WOW what a show he put on!! Also, The pictures of that little jet that were posted a few pages back, reminded me of the Coors Light Silver Bullet jet that I saw fly back in the late 80's at one of the the yearly Pax. River Airshows. That was treat in itself to watch that jet fly.
Unfortunately I have yet to see you fly but would love too! Do you plan on flying at any of the airshows here in Maryland next year?

Thanks,

Shawn

Default Proof that Matt used to fly REAL airplanes!!!

OK....we now have proof that Matt once was a dyed-in-the-wool real (read..."bi-plane") airplane pilot

I'll let him explain....

Funny you mention this.. Years (too many years) ago at the TOC, a pilot flying a Laser 200 in the contest was getting downgraded for flying his sequence too aggressively, with judges saying no pilot could actually fly like that and live. The noon-time demo was Leo. Let's just say the judges got a rather harsh reassessment of what a pilot could do with an airplane.

Matt.. it's funny you mention Hilton Tollman.. I was very close to making an offer on his Cap-21 years ago just before I found out my wife was pregnant.. At least I'm pretty sure that's who owned it at the time.
