Default Extreme Flight 47" Yak 54

I just purchased the EF 47" Yak54, could not pass it up for $100 shipped. I was wondering if anyone has flown a hacker on this. Did not know if there would have to be any modification or if it would bolt right up. If so which Motor, ESC and battery did you use. Thanks

I have had the EF Yak 54 and all I can say is that you made a good decision in getting it! I used the recomended Torque 2814/820 motor, Airboss 45A ESC, and Flight power 2170 3s. All from EF. I had it for a long time and just loved the plane. You can't go wrong in getting anything from EF! I had 86 flights on it until the Xtal viberated loose in a KE spin. - I tape all of them now.

Here is a video of me flying mine. In the 1st half of the vid, I am flying my EF Extra - the best electric plane on planet earth - and the 2nd half is the Yak. It's an older vid and I fly a lot lower now, but at least you get the idea. Hope you like it.

I think that the right Hacker would drop in fine, but the Torque motor is great. Have fun with it!

Hi Daniel, that was some amazing flying. I have seen the video before, but maybe I should go with the recommended setup. Looks like it is an awesome plane. I will never fly it half as good as you but I will keep practicing. Thanks for the info.

Great kid, and some pretty good flying. Keep that mentality and you'll go far.

With the 47" Yak...we like to see 450 to 500 watts or more...

AUW is usually in the 42 to 43oz range with a 3s setup and 43 to 44oz with a 4s setup. But there are always exceptions.

What prop are you using with the a30?

My EF Yak 54E came in at 34 oz
Hacker A30-16M
TP 3s 2100 mah
APC 13x6.5 prop
WOT 42 amps & 448 watts ( used only in 5 sec, or less bursts)
This plane is an absolute rocket ship.
8 min flights with combination IMAC & 3D flying.

Not trying to start a war...I would like to see it at 34 ounces. You much have shaved lots of weight off of it to get that light...and theres not much to cut out...If you did..great job..

The UPS man dropped mine off today. Guess it will be a while before I start on it. The wife and I spent just about all night at the emergency room last night. I have kidney stones, passed one last night and by the ct scan the other one should be gone in a couple of days. All I have for pain is percacet, and it really does help. As soon as I get to feeling better I will get some pics up. I guess I will go with the Hacker A30-16M but which ESC do I need to get with it.

I just built it according to the plans, nothing taken away. I soaked every joint with medium CA, as I do on all my planes. I even inset a small cf tube into the trailing edge stock to make it more rigid. Put it on our UPS scale, complete without battery, & it weighed 34 oz.
BTW, the guys at the field didn't believe it either, so I took the scale to the field & wala--34 oz.

I am sorry about missing the ESC on my list. I am using a E-Flite 40 amp ESC. I like them because I don't have to do any programming. I use it right out of the box.
