Default Anyone elses spectrum rx do this?

I have this new 9100 rx with four remotes. For some reason, the first time of the day (the past two days) i turn on the rx with my tx on, all the remotes just stay blinking......and dont seem to lock in. So I turn everything off, give it 10 sec or so, then power things up and things lock in fine. And after that things lock in fine on power up for the rest of the day (flown the rx 6 days of flying). Is this pretty normal? I am getting really good numbers from my data logger! thanks 871

Never happened to me but I've seen it happen to a friend of mine and after that it was fine, this is best answered by a Spektrum technician hopefully someone sees this and give you an answer.

That is probably a power loss indication. It might be happening if something downstream, like a switch or regulator, is doing a system self-check that momentarily drops power. If this happens, the lights will blink, indicating a power loss. Can you refresh us as to your power/switch setup again?

Yes I have a 9100, with 2 a123's directly into the rx. Then instead of the soft switch, I have the smartfly pin switch to fire things up, and I cut back the wire like you advised........thanks just want to make sure its no big deal! 871

It will do this if you don,t power up the TX and RX in the proper order. I have had mine blinking on all four remotes , but still functioning fine. It could have been the proper order of powering down and then powering back up too. What I would watch out for is three RX,s light up and one does not. This indicates that one RX did not link. I have seen this happen a couple of times. Cause, probable standing too close or that RX was shielded by something like the landing gear or engine durning power-up. Andy "RutnBuc" Runey

Show, it is possible that when you are pulling the pin on the pin-flag switch that you are pulling the pin too slowly or otherwise causing the pin to touch the contactors again as you remove it. This would cause the rx to power up and lose power briefly and then get power back, thus indication a power "brownout".
Just make sure you pull the pin swiftly.
I agree with Wylie, too...the Spektrum rx's can be fincicky about how you power them up or the order you power them up, too.
I do not recommend flying unless all lights on al rx's are aolid.

Yeh - as stated, you just need to be mindfull of the powering up order if you don't want the blinking lights on. Mind you it will have NO effect on the operation of your gear though (ie it will still work fine).

Whenever you turn an Rx off, it never knows that it is just turned off or had a power glitch - so when you re-power the Rx (without turning your Tx on/off) it will always indicate that you have had a power glitch by flashing its LEDs if it has just been previously used.

You need to cycle the Tx power so it will choose two new frequencies and then power up the Rx. The Rx will now just go through its normal power on routine and the LEDs should not be flashing. The key is that you have switched the Tx on and off.

Also check that your pin flag switch is not causing the power to glitch as your model is being switched on as this will cause the same symptoms as well.

If a system has been correctly bound - then when using it normally - A receiver that does not connect at turn on will just have NO LED illuminated - If it is flashing then it thinks its had a brownout/power glitch etc but otherwise it will still function OK.

i would definitely range check with the power cut button pushed in EVERY time after this happens. i am very skeptical of flashing lights and i want to see to it that i have proper connection even with the "antennae" down (button in). as stated above..... DON'T fly unless all rx's are lit up solid.

good luck and happy flying.

This problem seems to happen if the transmiter is on for more than a couple of minutes befer the rx is powered. Had same problem with mine. Was able to duplicate and eliminate by powering rx with in one minute of powering tx.

I have had this problem as well as a couple friends I fly with. I think of it as a good thing. Maybe I shouldn't listen to those voices in my head anymore.
