Here is something fun,
I finally got my " Convair B-36 Peacemaker Pilot's Operating Instructions" book. Emma went right at it to see if she can find anything that can help with my design, and construction. 456 pages of great stuff! DAG

Work about an hour last night on my nose gear doors, but work has me slammed again, but that is a good thing.
Here is from my SS I am building. I will have part numbers soon for all equipment used. This will help me in my paperwork for the AMA inspection. I think you can see where a ton of my budget went. I've really enjoyed following this thread along. The level of planning and analysis that went into this project before the first piece of balsa was cut is just amazing. Nice work! I look forward to seeing video of this plane flying for years to come. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry all I was in Dallas most of last week. My Dallas trip was good, but exhausting. I will now be in a catch-up mode for my company over the next few day. I hope to get a few hours in each night.
One thing about traveling and trying to un-wind at 10:30 at night after getting back from seeing clients is...... I have time to compile all the info for the book. I have to tell you I have great reservation on writing a book about this project. The last thing I would ever want to come across as is a ego nut, or a know-it-all. But I guess I have learned a lot in my life about designing and creating a plane that could actually be built. So ego aside I am going to attempt to write a book, but it will be mostly pictures, diagrams, and how-to stuff. I know I could never of made this project happen with out a great family, and learning 3D drawing. After sketching out all my data the chapters might look like this. 1. A bit about this madman. 2. The Dream 3. The List 4. The Design 5. The 2D design 6. Learning 3D drawing can be fun as long as you love going to the dentist. 7. The practice build-187" B-29 8. Burn-out, why a took a break from madness, and built a 50% Pitts S-1 9. Electric Motors could work. 10. Setting down with the wife and family and explaining what it will take. 11. This first piece cut that will never end up in the plane. 12. Fuselage. 13. Slowing Down and Testing. 14. The Gear Design. 15. Why some Manufactures will never be Apple. 16. Wing 17. H-Stab 18. V-Stab 19. Nacelles. 20. Gear II 21. Wing II 22. Hold the Phone and Stop Everthing 23. Air system 101 24. Failed designs, dumb people, and flushing money down the crapper. 25. Parts, Parts, and thousands of Parts! 26. I love it when a plan comes together. 27. I can remember when the budget was $8,000.00 28. Yes honey I need a new trailer. 33.??? AMA-And then the last chapter will be about the AMA, what it means to me, and why it is still cheaper to be a member than go to a dinner and a movie. That's it for now, and this is a very rough draft. In all after looking threw all above I have over 3400 pictures, 65 videos, 311 drawings, and can draw resources from 5820 post on RCG, 4 note books worth of info and notes. I have 1272 post here on FG. Thanks all, DAG |
