Guys, I just want to say. This bipe is fantastic. It flies smooth, roll rate is surprisingly very fast. Fit and finish on the model was great. It is not a beginners ARF, but with some patience it will come together fairly smooth.

I will say I feel the manufacturer meant for this plane to stay together when traveling. The way the airleron servo wires are routed through the outer interplane struts will make it hard to dissassemble each time.

Flying wires need to be thrown away. Not needed and extremely labor intensive if you were to use them. Tail wires are needed. My plane fully loaded with smoke and the brillelli, two receiver batts, a smartfly power expander, came out at 21lbs. dry. Sounds a little heavy but this plane is bigger than you think and presents almost like a 35% model. She flies excellent and lands just like most bipes. You need to fly it in, it will not float very well.

Overall, I love the plane and plan to buy one at the new sale price as well, just in case.

Guys, I hope this helps.

Hey Rick,

Really appreciate the pics and the information on the Pitts 12. I saw this when it was first shown by Cox at Toledo about 3 years (?) ago along with all the other ARF's they were planning on producing. It's really a shame that they couldn't make a go of it.

I definitely plan on leaving this one together, as it'll make up for all the others that require assembly due to their size.

I really feel that if Cox marketed this product properly, it would have sold alot better. Every time I went to there web site in search of this plane, it always took an act of congress to find it.

66 Stang , You will LOVE the GP Ultimate ! I had one for nearly 3 yrs. - w/ DA50 ,pitts muffler, Hitec 5955's etc. Flies beautifully and will do anything you can do . Great 3D plane although I am just learning it will hover w/power left over. Took around 10min. at field to assemble or less - very easy. I bought bling graphics from guy who did build - beautiful plane.

Lost it with a silly bit of rough landing after I got a bit freaked w/4-5 planes in air so I landed too quickly too far out and bounce just once and tipped over. It pretty much destroyed plane.

I used TNT carbon fiber landing gear and took off wheel pants right away as they were nuisance. ONE IMPORTANT thing to know during build ! The wing section joiners ( it has one-piece upper and lower wings) are made of balsa and lite ply epoxied together. In build I read Horizon had several wings fail in high stress maneuvers . They gave guys new kit but better to put reinforcement on that joiner - I think some guys put carbon fiber instead of lite ply for more strength. I never had problem but I never did violent snap rolls either for just that reason.

I miss the plane and have been on lookout for new bipe. Am considering Quiques 85-100cc python but also have an extra DA50 sitting around waiting for another 50cc bipe maybe? This bipe looks pretty good though not much less than GP arf which was great plane.

66 Stang , one additional note, GP Ultimate weighed in at only around 16lbs. which seems heck of a lot less than Cox bipe .

It seems that everyone that ordered COX products even months ago received the
"Thank you for ordering from STORE NAME. " email.

I was reading a few articles on our sister site RCGroups, and it seems this is a standard COX Models email receipt.

I really hope this sucker comes and isn't out of stock.

i think it's an automated system collecting orders, but not charging cards. We will see who gets confirmation of shipment emails, and who gets. Sorry Charley.. you were not charged.

Rick I made new joiner out of hardwood. I also used Radio South ca hinges. I hope I don't regret that I used ca hinges. I did double the amount of them used. Thanks for the info. Another thing about the landing gear. Some guys are using the gear off the new GP 27% extra on the Ultimate. It's a little thicker but has the same shape and color. Plus it's only like $12. Suppose to help eliminate prop strikes. The above mentioned info is for the Great Planes Ultimate. Not the Cox plane. Just didn't want people getting confused.

Anyone have a picture of the bottom view? It sucks about the single piece wings, sure would be nice if it were 4 panels. Anyone have any ideas about converting to 4 panels?

I got the same canned message on my order everyone eles got.

Damn you all!

I've got one ordered this morning. I'd talked myself into a 35cc Aeroworks Extra 300 'cause they're $100 off now what with the collapse of the economy and all...Then you miserable instigators come along and dangle a big Pitts w/ an old school scallop color scheme in my face - and it's $350 off. Damn.

I think the first glow powered airplane I successfully flew more than once was a tiny lime green plastic Cox .020 powered Pitts Special in 1968, so there is history here.

I guess used 50cc engines are readily available used (again, what with the collapse of the economy and all) and once I have a power plant / flight pack appropriate to this sort of thing, I'm in the 50cc club I swore I'd never get involved with when I got back into R/C planes 5 or 7 years ago.

It is a slippery slope. At least for now, I'm limiting myself to things that will fit in my beater 6-1/2" bed Dodge truck. Electrics have to fit in my late 90's BMW M3 coupe. Must have rules...

Having never seen one of these up close, and being a perfectionist builder, I'm a little concerned about the pig-in-a-poke aspect, but I guess for $2.5 clams, it's not a ~huge~ gamble.

Moron,
You will not be dissappointed. It will be the best $250.00 you have ever spent. I am now waiting to see if my plane will ship or if I was too late.
