Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all. I wanted a RealFlight 4.5 for Christmas, and was really looking forward to learning on it. I am brand new to the sport with an entry level ParkZone J-3 Cub electric which I have only flown one time with an instructor. (at a club an hour north of where I live)
My wife said the guy at the hobby shop didn't have the Realflight Sim and he talked her into the Hanger nine FS One saying it was just as good. I was pretty bummed out when I opened the present and I saw it wasn't the G4.5 I was expecting. Can you guys give me your opinion. Will the FS-one be fine for my needs, I want a realistic looking and flying SIM so I can progress in the sport and get better. If it has accurate flying physics and good graphics I'll be happy but I don't want to open the box in case I decide to take it back and get the G4.5. Will either one work with Vista operating system? Thanks for your input. Vic in Santa Barbara, CA |

FS one is an ok sim, it will still work for just learning basic flying. I think FS should be great to help you learn just the basics of flying.

FS One is excellent for the basic training, but G4.5 will be better long term for advance flying because of the availability of planes, improved user interface, and flight model.

When I first got FSone, i was pretty frustrated with how hard it was. I already knew how to fly and bought it to work on my 3D stuff. I think that in the long run, it's helped me a lot more than any of the others. It seems to be just a bit harder than actually flying, so if you can do it on the sim, than you'll be that much more comfortable doing it at the field.
The only thing that frustrates me still is the lack of planes. I only fly 3D and some IMAC, and that leaves me with the Edge, Ultimate, and Funtana. Even with the expansion pack, there is still not a huge selection. |
