I AM THE BEAST MASTER !

ok guys here is the question, scored this xmas wife footed the bill for a new toc 33% extra 260 and a motor. i can order the da 85 or behind door number 2 go with the dl100.if i go with the dl the savings will allow me to get a pair of canisters and still come out even. i have the 11.5 inches inside the cowl for the twin. i would need to chop aprox an inch or so off the fire wall but thats no issue. weight is a small penalty but i can save most of that with a new c/f wing tube. no 3d for me just full on imac style flying. if you were wearing my shoes what would you do? i realize its larger than required but ......

DA 85. If you have a 100 twin on the brain, why didn't you just go with the 35% 260? It is designed around the 100, whereas the 33% is not.
The 33% 260 is too small for the 100 and it will increase the wing loading. It would only make it worse to add cannisters. It would also likely end up EXTREMELY nose heavy. Botton line: my vote - stick with the 85, or if you insist on a 100 use stock mufflers to save weight. If you insist on adding cannisters, then get the 35% 260.

I've heard of vibration problems with the 85. The 100 might be the wise choice.

my choice will revolve around the 33% as i already have the plane. ill need to make my choice based on that. my thoughts were to get more for less. i want to do it right the first time. |

I agree with the DA 85. The DL-100 would yank the snot out of it, but like mentioned before, will increase wing load and make it a pain to balance. You'll just end up with a plane that has crazy vertical and rips the piss out of props. I'd rather have the 85 so it balances easy, is lighter, and feels more locked in when post stall with the weight savings. Now if you plan to go up to a 35% in the next year, get the 100 and don't expect the 33% to be a 3D monster with the added weight. Remember, it's going to take a bit of ballast weight to offset the motor weight and performance will suffer.

Another good choice would be the ZDZ Super 80, it's a stump puller and runs smooth, I have one in my AW 75cc Yak, the airframe is stock and it's ballastic, I have nothing but good things to say about the engine.

I agree the 100 is probably over kill- in power, weight and bucks.
Find a delicately previously owned DA 85 (or equal) and you may get the can thrown in too boot. ![]() The 100 requires two can$ BTWay. Then you will have a few bucks to finish off that cockpit detail in style! ![]() |

lol yup def a great score. i have decided om the da 85 and a pitts style. no stand offs needed just a 1/8 inch ply circle behind each ear and it will align perfectly. thanks for all the advise guys. |

Good choice. You won't be dissapointed. Also, I would probably use a full 1-piece plywood sheet for the spacer, epoxied to the firewall. Granted, it's only 1/8", but DA recommends the entire motor mount to be in full contact with the firewall so there is no chance of flex in the crank case. Here's a pic of what I mean.
