Oh ok now I recall! Yeah I am going to switch from Civil Engineers in the Army to Civil Affairs. I already did the Infantry thing.

Now lets see some kick butt video of that bird flying with lots of smoke! That thing has to have a presence.

Flew the Decathlon today...no 3d with the G-26. Not sure if I want to go that route though. The plane is so relaxing to fly, I think I'd rather put some big tires on it and tow gliders and banners. It flies like a trainer in slow motion.
My ignition battery is crapped out...15 minutes, then 5 more and it was dead...It's old, I just figured it would be ok.

Today was it's second day of flying. Pretty much just getting a feel for it. I went through the usual new plane familiarization...power on/off stalls, slow flight, touch and goes, and spins. It drops a wing in a stall and does not self recover from a spin. Slow flight is great, and dead stick glides for days. I have it balanced on the spar as recommended. Gentle aerobatics like loops, hammerheads, wingovers look scale as flown with this engine. The main gear and tailwheel are really sturdy...Im flying it off of pretty rough desert with good sized rocks everywhere...i dropped it on all three stalled from about 3 feet up (in the rocks) and nothing broke. I need to get the correct prop (18x6w), a new muffler (currently smashed up pretty good from the edge crash), mount the wing struts and flying wires on the tail, and most importantly....get some tundra tires.

I put a set of balloon tires on mine. They look real good. If you want I can snap a picture of them later this morning.

Man i had those Dubro 6'ers on my 1/3 scale cub and they are heavy. How did they affect the balance on your Decathlon? Anf what psi do you fill them to for your plane?

Balance is OK. I haven't set the air on them yet as ai just put them on. They actually feel good the way they are, but I will have to check them and get them the same on each side.
