How does it climb? Will it hover? Just curious, I have a G26ei on it right now and like how it floats around, but a friend of mine has a Thor 45 that he may let me borrow...is it worth switching?

if your going to attempt hovering that thing Id say a da50, or eo57 will be the best choices if your into that. Id assume it will do everything else on a smaller motor? Id like one of these, I think they are cool.

I keep going back and forth with this in my head...sometimes i'd like to see it dragging its tail, but then, i think...there are plenty other planes more suited for it.

A friend of mine lent me a peak 65 to mount on the decathlon. Barely enough prop clearance with the 22x10. Whats equivelent in a 3 blade?? Im kind of tired of looking at it in my garage, have only taken it out once since my last post in April, and I dont really care if it lawn darts, so im not concerned with the firewall strength, and or weight issues. I'll get it within the cg range and see how it goes!

I would say about a 20x12 three blade.

Nice plane guys !! Can some one get me a measurement ? I need the actual tail to spinner, or cowl. I could use from the tail to the gear. I'm looking at one of these and don't have tons of room in my escape. If its going to be to big I'll get a smaller one like the Seagull 120.

Thanks !!

Andy

Wow. I've never had a rx just "fail" even back in my 72mHz days. Probably a loose power connection or plug that shook apart on the first flight. Easy to blame Spectrum but 99% of those crashes are poor power system set-up.

We have one around here that gets hucked pretty regular. DL50 makes hovering a breeze and it is waayyyy overpowered for normal flight. While it is fun to hover that kind of plane, it really doesn't do as much 3D as I hoped. All that extra power doesn't make up for the smaller surfaces and high wing. But it is an excellent tow plane for gliders. Very stable and takes the biggest sailplanes up with not a lick of trouble. And I honestly love watching it do scale aerobatics.

They took it in and had it checked and the receiver was bad. It was just bought brand new for the plane...bad luck.

Hey, Berwyn Bill;
I just ordered my SD from Chief Aircraft for the very same reason: Tow plane for giant gliders. I am planning in putting a DLE-55 in it. Should be more than enough power. How did yours balance with the DL-50? I hope it's not too heavy.
