Hey Sleepy !! We need a CAD /CNC Forum. It would be great to have a place to share cad files and 3d models

I have a bunch of exhaust spacer files for various engines and other CAD files I'd be willing to upload. What format should we "check the files in" as?? dxf? prt? iges?

If you're going to use them for CADCAM you'll need .iges or parasolids .xmt. They are 3D.

There is also .sat and .step for 3D/solid modeling.
I use KeyCreator, AutoCad, Solid Edge (rarely used) and Gibbscam at work and have had to work with these and most of the ones already mentioned to work with customers. |

I use SolidEdge V18 for 3D and autocad for 2D. I also model in both in MasterCam V9.

I use rhino 3D at home and NX-5 at the university. I've also learnt Catia.

I would agree on this!! I would be happy to share and all with cad and CNC files. For CNC files you can also do .txt files and include a blue print!! :-)

I would be great to share files and tips. There is a wealth of knowledge and talent here on FG. I don't know how many members have access to machining equipment however I have seen some awesome cad skills !!. This could be combined into one forum.
I'm planning on purchasing some form of modeling software ( Solidworks, Alibre etc). I would love to see some models of servos, mufflers, engines, pipes etc.. This would be so sweet ! ![]() FYI, Alibre has a free download on their website. It is the expert version for 30 days. after that it downgrades to a stripped version. Its 100% free and great for our models. I downloaded it but have had very little time to try it out. . . |
