Default New plane setup

Hi.

I am setting up a new plane with a new JR X9303 2.4ghz radio w/R921 Rx, and I have a cople quick qestions about what power setup to use.

The airplane will be using 4 Hitec 5985 servos on the ailerons, 2 HS5985's on the elevator halves, a HS5955 on the rudder, and a HS625 for the throttle.

For power I was planning on using the same setup that I have in my 30% Yak since I have the stuff sitting on the shelf, and this has worked fine for me the past 3 years in my yak. The only difference now is that I will have 2 more 5985 servos and I will be using JR 2.4ghz equipment.

My plans are to use 2 fromeco 2600mah Li0Ions, 2 HD switches, SF Batshare, and SF adjustable regulator(Yellow heatshrink version).

Will this setup be ok on my new ultimate using the servos that I described or do I need something better? I quess that my main concer is if the regulator will hold up to the power demands of the servos that I am using. I know it worked fine on my 30% Yak, but that had 2 less servos and was using a PCM Rx, not the 2.4 that I plan on using now.

Also, what would be the best way of using 2 regulators with the batshare since I have a few on hand and is an option if needed.

I would really like this to work with what I already have, and would prefer to not buy more equipment if I don't have to.

Hi Chris,
I need to know more about the plane. What size engine and what weight? The regulator you have is fine for 50cc or 85cc planes but I would not use it on a 100cc plane or larger.

Hey Bob, do you have any plans to do away with the 5.0V regulator to the RX on the Power Expanders for people using A123 packs?

Also do you have any plans to produce a smaller version of the EQ10 for 100cc planes for people using A123 packs?

The airplane is a 50cc Ultimate biplane. It should weigh about 15 pounds when it's finished. I will mainly be flying 3D with it.

Hi Ben,
I don't see any reason to do away with the 5V regulator for the A123s unless I am missing something. The A123s still stay flat at 6.6V and the receivers do not need any more voltage than 5.0V. Do you have a reason for this? I am not sure what you mean by a smaller version of the Eq10. Can you elaborate a bit more?

You should be fine. Having the extra servos will not draw that much more current.

No real reason other than the RX would get 6.6V instead of 5. I'm not sure it would affect anything.

As for the other part of my question, I'm thinking of something like the Power System EQ6 minus the regulator since it's not needed for A123 batteries.

Hi Ben,
The receiver would not run any better on 6.6V than 5.0V, the 3.3V regulator inside the receiver would actually get hotter, which reduces the life of a semiconductor device.

I will keep that in mind. I already have a lot of products and I have to be careful about which new ones I add.
