No time! I woke up this morning, installed the radio gear, ran out to the field, froze my butt off, ran back, unloaded the Sukhoi, ran off to the hockey game, and now I'm beat.
I really want to see it all together too, sigh.

Thanks, John! I was secretly hoping the field would have a bunch of people flying today. I wanted to show off my new bird

After a little head scratching and asking Ryan to take a few measurements off of his Sukhoi, we figured that a header with a 25mm drop would be the ticket for a cannister install using a DA/DL-50.
So I've ordered the KS flex header from the good folks at TBM, and it should be here Thursday - just in time for when my Sukhoi arrives on Friday

The 25mm drop would also work on the MT-57, should you decide to run that engine with a different cannister.

I was happy just to hear it run. Had it been a DA I wouldn't have even bothered with a test run. It's also my first cannister installation so I'm just happy nothing blew up.

WHY ? Why would one load uo a NEW plane and carry it to the field with no intention of flying it when it is RTF ?
Makes me crazy !It still is the best looking 26 since the Byron kits I think. Gonna have to get one of those props to see if I lose 1000 RPM over a Vess 22B or 23A. Tachs like a Vess 23B does on my DL but it sure sounds damn good ! Good response.I'm glad to see the glove on start up. I'll never not use one again. Or take it off until I am done with the engine and ready to taxi. Looking forward to the flight report.

It wasn't ready to fly. The cowl hasn't been mounted, the throws haven't been set, controls haven't been sealed, plane hasn't been balanced, and the fuel tank vent needs the fuel tubing. I had limited time that day and really wanted to see the engine run. If I had one more day at home before my trip, it would have been ready to fly. I was actually thinking about the Byron kit too, that was a pretty scale plane. The weight on that one though....
![]() Try not to take the tach reading too literally. I didn't spend any time tuning the high end beyond getting the engine to run smoothly. There may be some more performance in there, and the engine hasn't been broken in. The PAU props are pretty beefy for sure though. I don't have any other 23" props to compare this one to in terms of RPM though. Last edited by Flyfalcons; 01-05-2009 at 11:49 PM. |

hey all,
I'm still debating on what motor to use on mine! Too many choices out there! What do y'all think? -Evolution 58GX2 (only problem is they won't be available for awhile )-BME 58 (might be a little too light for this plane, unless I add smoke!!) -ZDZ 60 -Brillelli 366 gt 60 (what happened to Brillelli? do they still support their engines?) -G62 (I have one NIB, but would have to send it away for the RCign super-hotrod mods!) -MT-57 (looks decent, but still the new guy on the block!) Decisions, decisions Regards, Astrohog |

From what I understand Brillelli is kinda on hold right now, somebody correct me if I am wrong. Its a shame because their 50 runs like a champ. I think if I had my choice it would be the BME 58, from what I've read that engine would be awesome in this plane. That being said, I'm curious to see how Ryan does with his MT-57....
Yep, I'm no help what so ever
