Default FASST Heat Test Video 2: R608FS (dotted) in the oven!

This video shows an R608 receiver in the oven, working at roughly 110 degrees Celsius (230 degrees Fahrenheit) ambient temperature. The receiver is a "dotted" model, i.e. it was purchased very recently, and it has a white dot near one of the antenna exits.

Disclaimer: This is just one receiver. This is not a scientific test. Your results may vary. That said, I think it's a pretty good indication that the current (dotted) 608 may be rather unproblematic in terms of ambient heat. This test also increases the odds that the results of my earlier test about the R617FS is correct, in which receivers without a dot failed at around 60-70 degrees celsius (around 150 degrees Fahrenheit) whereas the new receivers with a dot still operated correctly at 110 degrees Celsius.

I just ordered a 608FS from Tower. Hopefully it will be a dotted version which I will be putting into my 50CC Edge. I also ordered a 617FS for use in my Cub. Based on your experiments I am confident in the receiver's ability to withstand the desert heat here in AZ. I have a 10C still in the box because I did not trust the 6014 (Non-Dotted) that came with it. I may do some testing on my receivers, once they arrive, to confirm they at least operate at 170+ Fahrenheit. I will return the receivers to Tower if they are not the dotted versions.

Careful, I only tested one 608 receiver. I don't give any guarantees.

The really interesting one will be the 6014. As soon as I have my dotted one, I'll do a comparison right away.

i think a big thanks to you is in order even if i think it's nuts to subject your equipment to this, but your test is showing that something has changed.
when i did my test of the 6014 and 608's, i found that the 6014 would shut off sooner than the undotted 608's.
certainly all the dotted Rx's have been modded, and it's strange that Bax keeps deleting all the topics that are questioning the dots.
makes me believe that if the truth was spoken, then Futaba may be obligated to replace.

i'm ordering another 608 today and it'll be interesting to see if it is dotted.

Summerwind, if you get it from Tower then it should be dotted. I got two 608s a few weeks ago from them and they were dotted.

I've been meaning to ask you but have forgotten or just didn't take the time - Did you ship the rx with a trackable number and it got lost - or did it get lost in their "fix it room" after Hobbico received it? I've seen you state that it was lost but I don't think I ever read where it was lost.

I was taking pics for the other testing thread and found out I do have a gold dot 6014. I would be glad to send a set of dot/undotted 6014's for testing.
