On New Years day we had our 1st of Jan. flyin. One or our members Brent Good had his brother visiting from Virgina Beach Va and brought 2 very nice aircraft. The first being a 40% QQ Yak 54. While Dave was doing some nice 3D in front of everyone one of the wheels decided to come off. It landed on the field and was recovered by one of the club members that was watching. Well you mights well burn off the fuel so he flew around did some more 3D and then came in for the landing.
So get out the other plane. A very well finished P-47 with Flite Metal rivits and all the bling. Well, they were fixing the landing gear New Years eve at about 3am. Barley pop at 3 am probably wasnt the greatest idea...... Well at 3am they PROBABLY thought it was a good idea but the gear leg got bound up and wouldnt come down. Brothers work pretty good together when they get older and Brent Killed the motor on the short final. The P-47 slid to a gracful stop with little damage. Excitment at its best. Man, I've been having a lot of wheel issues but usually on other people's planes... I had to land a brand new Ultimate on the maiden flight with a missing wheel, and an Ultra Stick a couple of weeks later with the same issue.
Then a gear bolt fell out of my UCanDo and I had to land it with the gear facing sideways. Sheesh.

I used to have those problems. I guess I rubbed them off on someone else. Sometimes you have to stop when you're ahead. I had a funtana that lost a wheel came around and landed it without breaking the gear amazingly so I got another wheel put it on and flew it again but this time the whole landing gear assembly fell off. Came around for a landing and broke the firewall.

I have to say the 40% landed about as good as it gets missing a wheel. Nice job. That's what knowing 3D will get you too. Because if he didn't know how to elevator and harrier that thing would have been toast.
