Aeroworks 260, all around. I liked my h9 260 but I wouldn't pay $1199 for another one. You can find them cheaper, NIB if you shop around - it is KILLER for IMAC, but quality is so-so compared to aeroworks.
The qq yak is also hard to beat. I'd stay away from any kind of Edge if you will be strictly IMAC - there is a reason why you don't see to many of them at contests...

BW--you need to fly the Edge. Its actually very good at IMAC. It doesn't fly like a typical Edge but more like an Extra in precision. I had no problem at all doing stalls with it on the very first time on the sticks and I suck at IMAC

I'd agree with the AW-260, it's a good price, and they are a great quality. I've had 2 AW's and loved them both. I've picked up a QQ python for IMAC next season, and if you like bipes, it's my understanding they have the lowest coupling of any out there... There's 2ft of snow here, so I can't speak from experience yet |

If you are looking for somthing for IMAC only, there are 3 planes that I would recomend:
(1) EF 110" Yak 54. EF's quality, flight performance, and looks are second to none! I have had great experience with there planes, and Chris is a great guy, who really knows how to make excelent aircraft! (2) QQ 101" Yak 54. This is going to be the most inexpensive of the 100cc size planes, because it uses an 85cc engine. With the DA 85 and canister, it will have more power than the original 102 with a 100. Great flying plane, and the quality is great to. (3) QQ Python. The Python is by far the best biplane for IMAC and 3D. My good friend Seth Arnold said that the Python would actualy be better in IMAC than the 102 if set up right. It will take longer to set up though. Again, great quality too. There are a lot of great planes out there now! It's hard to go wrong. These are just what I would recomend. Just my $0.02, Daniel |

probably can't go wrong with any of the QQ planes. i bet we will continue to see more and more of the pythons flying in imac. i would assume that the imac setup for this plane would be the 100cc motor not the 85. i don't own one of these but have flown a couple and i really enjoy them. VERY low coupling and very stable in any attitude. and heck, like QQ says, the biplanes just present better to judges because you can always see wing!

As those that fly IMAC and have flown either the 43% 0r 36% Edge from PAU can attest: PAU's Edges will perform well in IMAC. PAU has worked their design magic and have one of the best precision Edges out there.
I believe there will be at least a few of them competing in N.W. Imac this year and I think they look to be VERY competitive!! there is a post in the 43% PAU build and fly thread in PAU's support forum by Macanaw where he took his 43% to (I think the N.W. "Twin Falls Tumble" (Idaho)) IMAC and it took first or second in three divisions, with three pilots, two of whom had never flown the plane till that day!! Yes, there are many choices out there, good luck with your decision, and remember.......PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE!!!!!! Regards, Astrohog |

MagicHand 103" wing Yak 54. $599 from TroyBuilt Models.
You cant go wrong with the others mentioned, as they are excellent airplanes. But IMHO they are way overpriced. |

How about a Wild Hare 35% plane?
![]() From the Wild Hare R/C site:
You'll still need to get a throttle servo, choke servo (if you don't want a manual setup), ignition cut-off (42% Products has a great one). Looks like about $2200 will have you in a 100cc ride for the IMAC season. ![]() Jon

There are a bunch of good options out there right now. I flew Dave's (Mackanaw) plane last weekend and on the very next flight I balled up my plane - battery came loose I think. Needless to say I am in the market now as well.
My brother has an older 100cc AW Edge and it is great to fly and floats for 3D. However I have a hard time getting it to stall, snap, and spin properly. Compared to that, the PAU Edge DOES NOT FLY LIKE AN EDGE!! I always have loved the look of the Edge design but hated the way it flew. The PAU Edge honestly flies like an Extra 260 in terms of tracking, coupling (or lack thereof...), stalls, spins, snaps on a line, etc. I am very seriously considering purchasing the 36% myself. No, I do not get a discount, I am not a paid spokesman nor will I ever be. I also looked at the QQ Yak. My Dad has the 102" on a DA-100 and it is outstanding. Very straight in every attitude, stalls/snaps/spins with great authority and precision, and goes extremely flat in a flat spin. At the current sale it is almost unbeatable, $799. I actually have a single cylinder engine on a cannister so I was looking at the 101" QQ Yak for $649, but apparently the tunnel can only accomodate pipes and not cannisters (2" diameter max). This is the reason I am looking at the PAU Edge, the new WH Extra 260, and a couple of the Aeroworks planes are fabulous as well. I have owned an older WH plane and have flown a few newer planes and they are very good. Bottom line is this: Almost all of the planes on the market now are outstanding, and the ACTUAL prices (INCLUDING any extra hardware and shipping) runs from $750 for the Magic Hand 103" Yak from TBM, ~$875 for the 101" QQ yaks on sale, to ~$950 - $1000 for the WH planes and QQ 102" Yak, to $1170 for the EF 110" Yak, to $1350 for the H9 Extra 260, on up to around $1700 for the Comp Arf 2.6m planes and up. All are excellent in their own way. |

Wild Hare's 35% Extra 260 is the only one on the market that's a fast build and has pocket hinges. There is so little to do even a cave man can do it!
Seriously, no glue needed at all. TF |
