All the planes listed above will do you justice.
Do you have a preference for an airframe? Do you like round cowls? Extras? Biplane, or mono?

I actually posted this in a similar thread! "Man the reality is you are really not gonna get a solid answer on this because everyone has different priorities and likings. I was in your shoes, and found the best way is to just try to gather as much research you can on each plane, and make the choice for yourself. There are some tough calls, alot of nice planes. Everyone has priorites across the board, so weigh yours out and pull the trigger. Call-email the companies up and talk to them on the phone. You may find you really dont like the attitude of some. That will eliminate a few. Look at quality, a few more gone......value, a few more gone.....performance and rep, more gone. Then pick the one you like most and you will be happy with your choice. One to check out is Pilot. The previous statements, Pilot was the standout for me. I am a picky picky picky guy and I have never been happier with a purchase than my Pilot 100cc 260. I am new to Imac only doing 2 events, but for me it flies Sweet. Good luck.....871"p>

AW will last you longer, easy to build, one of the cheapist price arf's out for what you get,
i have had many arf's and Aero Works it the best for money right now. i have the big yak for IMAC and love it i am also building A 35% aero works 260 for IMAC and it looks very nice for the 09 imac season

A lot of the planes mentioned are great designs but I would recommend against the QQ Pyhton for IMAC. It is a very cool plane and looks great in the air but it just seems to like to wander in flight. Several of us locally have flown one and have done some trimming on it but it just doesn't seem to want to hold lines like a well-trimmed monoplane or Ultimate.
Having said all of that, I am setting up a 43 percent PAU Edge for IMAC this year, and the 36 percent flies just like it. |

As far as I know the CG was right on. The plane flies well but just did not seem to lock onto lines like other planes I've flown. There's a lot of fuse side area forward of the CG, which may have had something to do with it.

A lot of side area forward of the CG should only affect knife edge type stuff. It should only really change the amount of rudder needed to hold knife edge. More forward side area = less rudder to hold knife edge. If anything the rudder would be more sensitive, but the tracking shouldnt be affected. What rudder servo(s) were used, and how tight were the pull-pull cables?

The more side area you have forward of the CG, the less yaw stability you have in general. This goes for all phases of flight. Anyway, just passing on the experience that I and several other advanced/unlimited pilots had flying the Python in precision-type stuff.
