Thought i'd post a few pics of the first weeks progress of a new toy. Don't have much time to spare lately. (Self employed , two 5 year olds , wife , yada , yada)
![]() Anyway , Santa (that's me, btw. ) bought me a 30% SD Yak 54 and MT 57 engine to play with over the holidays ! She who must be obeyed has given me two weeks to go nuts with time for myself , so i've been on a build frenzy.Little backround on my RC experience , been flying RC since 14rs old and Control line for a couple of years before that , so i'm no newbie to the obsession. Last 20 years have been nothing but work and little time for flying , so i'm on a mission to get a 'plane or two flying over Christmas holidays. Have a few models , but am interested in getting some bigger stuff flying to get me ready for a model i have been building off and on for a year. Have a 52% Pitts Challenger biplane and 3w 212 B4 i'm about 65% of the way through building , so thought the Yak might be a good model to practise with for the impending Pitts. I usually lurk on FG , i like to try and keep up with the tech side of things and there are some pretty cluey people about on this forum , so i thought , what the heck , i'll contribute for a change. Maybe some of the pro's can give me some words of wisdom or perhaps pick up some clangers i may have pulled in my foray? Anyway , enough banter , on to some pics i've snapped in week one , not finished yet , but i've also got a GP Christen Eagle ready for it's maiden flight except for an exhaust system which i am gonna try and fabricate in the two weeks i have available , so i should by rights have two new models to maiden on the same day if i'm lucky (a first for me) ![]() Here go's , don't laugh too much!! Cheers , Leon.

Looks nice, one thing I see is be careful with the plastic servo horn on the Rudder, I tried it once and it stripped on the first fligh during a blender, but I really love flying the 30% Yak.

Cheers for that Freya , will swap to a SWB arm for the rudder , was wandering if it would be enough myself. I do like to try and "rip the wings off it" when i fly.
