MPI has 20 gauge extensions at the normal lengths 3,6,9,12,18,24,36,48. They have worked out pretty good for me.

Thanks for the infos

I was thinking to add a wood structure at the middle of the cowl to support it because it is only fixed from the rear, there is nothing more in the front like a wood circle or something.
Do you think its a good idea or actually useless ?

The cowl has 3 bolts from the inside and two down at the bottom from the motor side of the plane. The cowl ring is very strong. I think the cowl is fine like it is without further reinforcement.

Question: what kind of wire setup did you use for your servo ? Im thinking about going with thick wire like 18AWG.
You could go with 18G for a power lead then go with 20-22G for command leads from the rx, this will greatly reduce weight in the tail. I have a 37.5% SD Yak and set up with 4 servos(5985) on the elevators and did individual 18G leads, next time I will do one 18G lead and 22G command leads to each servo to save all that weight in the tail. Just run power a single 18G lead from your smart board direct to the tail then break off to each servo from the 18G lead.

I thought about that, but in case the 18 fail, you loose all your tail :s

If the connectors are installed correctly there is no chance of failure other than the source of power which if lost you have lost the plane anyway.

Here are a couple of pics from maiden day with the new plane a couple of weeks ago. What can I say the plane flies great. It is super light and power on the DA170 and 32x10 prop was crazy at 36.6lb. Hovering the plane was hard because One or two clicks above Idle and it would climb out, full throttle and it was a rocket. I tried a 29x12 3-Blade Narrow, and hovering got a lot better. It got the steady hover throttle up to about 1/4 throttle and pullout is still ballistic. I am going to switch to the 3 blade. I didn't try a 30x12 2 blade but it probably would do the same, but the 170 would rip it silly and make crazy noise.

Minimal coupling, it was a little windy to settle on the mixes, but they are going to be super small. I will post them when I settle in on them.

Forgot to add. The Futaba 9157 servos are awesome. They are fast, center better than any servo I have used yet, and two on the rudder and one each elevator half is plenty.

I am not using the spinner, wheel pants, and am using Lithium Polymer batteries with a total battery weight of 14 ounces for all 3 batteries.

I am using a powerbox and a SWB 2 servo rudder tray, so it could be built a little bit lighter.

Just started work on mine. Question one - is the built in right thrust of about two degrees enough or should one go for more ? Engine is a ZDZ 160 Super and will probably be swinging a 32 x 10 or 32 x 12 Biela.

So far, I believe the right thrust is pretty good. I would start there.

I found the right thrust to be 'spot on' swinging a 32B Vess.
