Very nice setup and build. You going to use a 27x10Th on it? I had a 27x10th on a 23# 10 oz extra and it was a really good match.

I wouldn't bother with the 27x10TH it's not enough prop on the 85. Once you've done your break in go straight to a standard 27x10 mejzlik.
Nice job on the build too. I'd like one of these for my 85, but I'd put it on a pipe.

yes, (1) 8711 on each aileron, mounted closest to the fuse. here is a pic. you CANNOT use ball links on the phenolic horns unless you use (2) of them. they are not made for lateral forces and will fail.

ok, something to pay attention to, and i've never had this problem before, but i'm going to assume it's the vibration from the DA-85. i maidened it this weekend and got 5- 6 min flights on it (landing frequently to make sure nothing was falling off and good thing i did because the wing nuts keep vibrating loose. finally lost 2 out of 4 on the last flight of the day. i'm going to try some ca in the threads to tighten them up. any way....this machine is awesome! soo much power! the only drawback is the vibration....it really does shake the @&%* out of the airframe. engine is hard mounted as recomended, a am using a PT 26x10 for breakin but i'm going to move to a Vess 27, A or B....any feedback on prop selection?
i have the CG set at 100mm back from the leading edge and it's great for 3d....no real wing rock in high alpha and does nice rollers and hovers very easily. it's a bit pitchy on landing so could probably move forward a bit. |
