First I have seen of them. They are some nice looking birds and decent prices!

It sure looks like Nitro Planes has ripped off the design of the 84" Wild Hare Edge 540T. Different cowl and canopy and all the hardware is different but the wood parts look to be identical.

Just FYI one of the (former) employees at my builder made off with computer files holding the CAD plans of some of Wild Hare's planes. Now I know where they went.

Probably... they are too similar. (one on top is nitroplanes, bottom is wild hare)

I think you could say more accuately that the design is good, however I don't think I have ever seen a nitromodels where the quality was good.

the way to stay ahead is to constantly improve the design.... so the intellectual thieves always have "Last years Model"

I had one of their little Yaks and I was never so happy when the elevator flexed in a pullout and it snapped and went straight in and broke every piece of it including all the servo gears.....I caught it a couple of times but the last one got it......It was the most fun I have ever had crashing an airplane...

True. That's a 3 year old design, our newest planes are always way ahead of the thieves.

Also, they stole the wood parts but look at that hideous cowl. Nothing else is the same except the frame.

I'm not really worried about this, if someone wants to save $140 they get a 3 year old plane with no support, terrible glass work, and suspect quality of construction. And I'm pretty sure you get the dubious honor of arguing about shipping damage with somebody who sudenly does not speak english.

That looks comparable to the V2 on your website. Is that the 3 year old design? I am considering a 50 cc edge and the WildHare V2 was one I was looking at.

All of the major retailers here in the US have encountered the same problem. WH is not alone. The Chinese will sell anything to anybody if they have the money. Same problem with the all the Chinese motors out now, including the TMM(3MM TOC).

Yes. We started working on that plane in about 2006, so it's probably a 3 year old design. It has morphed into the Extra 300, Extra 260 and the new Edge 540. Each time we build a btach we try to integrate improvements but the basic design was done about 3 years ago.

Funny you mention TMM (formerly known as 3mm), I am finishing a 35% Edge right now with the new TMM-106 twin on it. I'll have some pics in a day or two. And it is a totally new design, no evidence that anything was ripped off. They are pretty good guys, not really part of the usual crowd from China.
