Im on my second jtec 2.7,I love this plane. My first one had a zdz super 80 and my second has a da 100. I liked the flight performance better with the 80, but for a little extra weight the 100 is worth it.

I'm glad to see this build going on. I've been looking at it as well for getting back into IMAC and into flying for that matter after a 4 year layoff. I have a Lanier 1/3 Extra 300 to build, but I have nothing flying now and I am thinking I could have the Radiowave 300 for the same money or less than it would take me to build the Lanier. These kits seem really nice and kind of a dark horse. Oh and some of you are talking about the DL 111. Is the DLE 111 the same as DL. I've seen it both ways, and wasn't sure if it's the same company or not?

Thanks,

Keith

Sounds good JT....I think a set of 50mm cans would be a good fit then. Not sure exatly which motor i'd go with , but i really need to get a BME 116 as a second 100cc sized motor. Could it actually fit a tuned pipe in those tunnels , or are they to short for that? I think they need to be about 30" - 35" or so long. I know my 35% sukhoi fit two cans easily , but the way it's designed , it won't except two tuned pipes without some major surgery.

This is a great flying airplane! I have flown versions with both an 85 and a 100 in it, and they are fantastic. When the inevitable happens and I pile in my Panzl 330,I will replace it with the new 2.7 Extra!

I haven't put tuned pipes in it, but I know that some people have. Looks to me like it would be a very easy mod to extend the tunnel.

Here is a pic of mine after a re-cover. I covered it to match my Panzl. I did at one point have a DA-85 with a KS 1090 in the plane so it will fit. It took a bit of trimming of formers to get the 1090 in but it is possible.

How did you do your canopy.

I glued it on, then I glassed the hatch and molded into the canopy with bondo. I shot the red then cleared over everything. Here is a closer pic of the canopy.

This JTec is a nice plane, it looks really great with the black stripe added...I like it, reminds me of the stripes I put on my yak.

DBCaster, looks nice. I like your covering scheme. Great job. Wish I could cover like that. However, I will probably never learn, because I hate covering planes.

What was your reason for switching from the ZDZ80 to the 106? I'm considering this plane with a DA 85 on a pipe.

I felt like the plane was too marginal on power, it was enough but there was very little reserve. It ruled out the possibility of using a 3 blade prop, which I prefer for IMAC. Also, with the smaller props the downlines got very fast. I'm probably over critical of the downline speed but last year I flew a Yak and got used to it being very slow on them. The DA 85 has more power than my old model 80 and flies the plane better. Getting the cg right for IMAC was also a little tough, I had everything as far forward as possible and it still was a little tail heavy. I even had the batteries on the front end of the motor box!
