You have to disconnect the elevator linkage to take the stabs off???

Yes, I disconnect the ball link from the servo arm. To fit in my 4-runner, I only need to remove 1 stab.

Finally flew the extra a few days ago. The plane flies great, though it was just a test flight, and I didn't get too radical. My c.g. is a little aft, so when I fly inverted no down elevator is needed. Once I add a spinner, the c.g. will be about right on. Anyway, even slightly aft the plane tracks really well. I can see how this will be a really good IMAC plane. Knife edge tucked to belly slightly and required some up elevator, but not much. I will mix this out when I fly again. The only 3D I tried was a harrier, and the plane was stable in this maneuver. The engine is still running a little rich with only about 1/2 gallon through it so far. The next few flights will be for trim purposes and to get the engine dialed in. After that, I will really see what she can do in the 3D arena and will post some video in about 2-3 weeks. Weather is hot here with temperatures in the low 100s and gusty sw winds. So as much as I want to fly, the heat and wind are prohibitive right now. The best I might be able to do is get a flight or two in an hour or so before sunset.

I've done two Canopy's that way (goop & elec. tape) Looks great and has never failed me. Nice Job!

Yea, I was pleased at how well the red electrical tape matched. The electrical tape is very flexible and easy to work with.

Still getting her trimmed out, but I like the way this plane flies. Very stable in 3D and flies precision well also...but c.g. needs to be moved forward a tad. Engine needs to be cleaned up in mid range (just where I need it most for 3D).

Tony,
the tunnel is not long enough for R2's but the back is open so it is very simple to extend it and make the necessary opening for the exit.

James is correct, the pipe tunnel is open at the rear in case you choose to use different canisters or use tuned pipes. As he said it is very simple to finish off and setup tuned pipes. My last two 3.2m extras have had full length pipes in them and it is very simple to do.

Here is a shot of inside fuse and another of how we did our pipe tunnel

The DA 85 has more power than my old model 80 and flies the plane better. Getting the cg right for IMAC was also a little tough, I had everything as far forward as possible and it still was a little tail heavy. I even had the batteries on the front end of the motor box!

Just asking I have a zdz 80 with pitts muffler . you think it will be marginal on power? and what was the overall weight on it ... just thinking of buying one of these .
