This mean everyone is flying Saturday?

My trailer is in the back lot and nothing is charged. I thought Sat. was a work day.

As to a fee, Lewis said he didn't want one--he was doing nicely on his pension. Instead he asked for a 2.5% royalty (which he intended to share with his descendants)."

I agree, get off the guy, his father was only able to collect something like $36m in insurance money, (and tax relief also) that caused them to move to where they are now. Poor guy, should have gotten $38m. Besides, they are giving us another break, only $20 for a BBQ. Man what a deal!

I think they want to charge the RC flyers because the Bentley payments are behind, or the insurance rates went up on it.

CJ struck again!!!!
He took the pin out of my Reese hitch and didn't put it back. Needless to say, I hooked up the trailer and started to pull it out of the back lot and made it half way out the gate. The ball mount pulled out of the hitch receiver and the trailer tongue hit the ground. Boy was I pi$$ed. The trailer tongue is heavy and the jack just kept going down in the dirt. After busting a nut I picked it up and got a block under it and was able to put things back together. I found the pin for the ball mount on the Dodge truck he drives. If he was home, I would have strangled him.

Hey Everyone.... Hopefully I don't type the wrong message here and you guys get mad at me, but, here it goes..... First, you all have been doing this alot longer than I have. I truly have learned quite a bit from all of you that I have flown with. At times I just try and keep my slow WW1 planes out of your way!!!

With paying for Roar & Soar. I could be wrong but it's $23.00 for flying both days. Some but not all RC events require a landing fee. Not $23.00 but a landing fee. Usually $10.00-$15.00 OR SO. I've never been there, but it's no Joe Nall I guess. But they do charge to fly. Probably not a good comparison , I know.

In my opinion, it's not all about just the flying at this event. I feel honored to fly at the same site that some of the full scale planes fly at that I grew up watching. I also look at it as an opportunity to showcase our flying and building skills to the general public that in most cases do not get to see. I see it everytime I fly with you guys. We have some AMAZING builders and flyers at our club and other clubs in Central Florida. Roar & Soar is an opportunity to pass along what we know to the unknowing general public. Being good product ambassadors will only keep our hobby safe in the future. It's not about going out and flying balls to the wall. It use to be structured, with time slots. Last year it was not. It was open flying for the most part from 9:30-4:30. We had to shut down for the full scale show from I believe 12:15-1:15.

I'll continue to support the event based on the fact that I find it again an honor to fly there. It may not be suitable for some planes or flying styles. There are better runways and flying sites. But for one weekend, it's really not so bad.

See you guys at the field!!!

Scott

Scott I understand your position. My gripe is: I have no trouble with a landing fee at a club event because that is how they raise money to improve the facility and offset the operating costs to keep dues down. FOF is a commercial venture and they are useing us to draw people that pay to fatten their purse. We take all the risk and money out of our pockets to fatten theirs and they are even going to charge you for a BBQ dinner, if paid for in advance! Something wrong with this picture. Most flyins with landing fees give you something in return, free lunch or raffle tickets or something to that effect. Heck ,I even like the disclaimer where your signature goes that releases FOF and Steve from all liability from damaged aircraft. Plus you mean to tell me that every other event there is paying to partisipate?
I think the flight line will be kind of empty this year.
