Default WING/FUSE JOINT

A while back I bought a 40 size profile for cheap (real cheap) I dont know what kind or who makes it( very ugly and has man & dog for pilots ) any way this plane was ready to fly when I got it and I have put around 60 flights on it. Yesterday I was flying it around having a good time and all of a sudden it started flying really wierd so I was circleing around to land and it was all over the place. when I got it on the ground and was checking it out I found the joint where the wing and fuse meet was broken. I could slide the wing from side to side about 3/4 inch and tilt the wing alot. Can I just square the wing back and glue it or do I need to remove the alirons, remove the wing and epoxy it back in? Or scrap it!

Hey Shane

Is this a removable wing, or is it supposed to be permanently fixed?

Got any pictures?

Shane

On the OMP Edge profile I had the wing passed through the saddle, and a lot of wiring too. I think I'd try is wick some thin CA all the way around both sides. After that sets up I would try to set a bead of Epoxy all the way around both sides.

Shane,

Man and Dog Pilots sound like a Morris........could be a TopCap (Blue and White scheme ARF).

Anyway, there is an easy fix for it and you are on the right track. I did a "how-to" thread on another site http://www.theprofilebrotherhood.com...hlight=fillets

Basically, you just want to get the wing square to the fuse again and tack with CA. Then apply a good Epoxy Fillet. I like to use a syringe, but you could also use a plastic sandwhich bag like a baker uses a canvas funnel for icing a cake. Just be sure to fill any voids in the saddle. If they are large, you may want to place some thin scraps in there and mask off the other side to protect against drips.

I have attached some pics from the thread, but no narrative. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Good luck with it!

J.

Thanks, it was built from a kit a long time ago. I dont see any wood or structure damage, I think the glue joint just came loose. I am not to concerned if the repair doesnt work out, like I said I got this thing RTF cheap so if it dont work out I will scrap it.
