Default Any Giant Pitts out there with 100"+ span

A friend of mine is looking for a giant Pitts Bipe -Python/S12 to build 100-130" wingspan. Anyone know of any plans out there or short kits. He loves his 120" Waco, but is looking to do another big Bipe... Only thing I have seen is 50/100cc ARF's. Any info?

Bob Truworthy makes the 41% Pitts M-12/Python. Rumor has it he will cut some more kits this spring/summer. There is a build thread here on FG.

TOC makes a 150/170cc M-12 with a 111" top wing - its an ARF. It could easily be stripped, modified and re-covered. I have one and the quality is great.

Seems Trueworthy is the only one I could find, would hate to do a scratch build..but it might be fun. Do you have a weight on your TOC?

My TOC came in at 44lbs - I used CF wing and stab tubes, spinner, Ti axles, Ti TW and Kevlar flying wires to reduce the weight by about 3lbs. With 3,800+ sq in of wing that is very light.

That is with a 3W 170 CS, canisters, 3-blade and 13 servos. (48ft of servo extensions if I recall...)

I forgot about those. The 3W is beautiful - very expensive - but so nice. I know Gerhard is having one built for himself... he told me he would be willing to sell. I believe it is in California now. Not sure if/when he plans to have the builder start on it.

exclusiv modelbau has a Pitts S-1, Pitts Challenger and an Ultimate. There is not much info about them on DA's website but they sell the kits. I forget the actual wingspans on them but they all are 44% or larger and they are beautiful kits.

Mike,

It's not really an ARF. A Level 1 does have pre-sheeted wings but you have to finish everything off, paint, cover etc. Its more of an ARC I guess. Lots of work anyway.

It does have/need wires according to Gerhard. $4795 for the level 1 kit!!!

Mine's for sale. A good Bipe is hard to come by. Most guys will hold on to them because they fly so well. This one turns heads everywhere it goes.

Mike and all model 12 fans,

There is no such thing as an S-12. There is no such thing as an M-12. The true name is Pitts Model 12. Some think all airplanes designed by Curtis Pitts are "S-somethingoranother." M-12 is apparently a shortening of Model 12. Python and Ti-12 are two custom versions of the Model 12 that I designed.

LOL...I meant ARC I guess I just typed it wrong. I prefer it that way anyhow, that way we can work our magic on it.

$4795 is a bit too pricey for my blood...ouch

Thanks Kevin, I knew "M" was short for "Model"...but then again I typed arf instead of arc, and to the unknowing that could be somewhat misleading. Thanks both of you guys for correcting me.
