Bone,

No problem. BTW, in the full scale world the Van Aircraft airplanes are all aluminum. A few years ago, some of the guys who build those airplanes printed some shirts that were funny. Since you mentioned composite construction, I thought you might get a kick out of this.....

The shirt said: " Friends don't let friends fly plastic airplanes!"

Actually, the 3W "KIT" is a composite fuse and built up wings, stabs. Still, there is a ton of work to be done, just as Comp-ARF's , arent really ARF's either IMO.

Kevin, other than increased HP, what other mods did you make for the Python version from the Model 12? Sorry, if you have covered this in another post somewhere. BTW, it looks awesome-nice work!

The 3W version of the 12 looks good, but he still prefers to build. No offense to the ARF/ARC community...

that 3W bipe is beautiful. i am quite certain that it couldn't be considered anything close to an ARF.... they's lots o hours needed for that one!

what are anyones opinion on power plant. Was originally thinking ZDZ210, or maybe DA170. Have to stay around 1800.00, and want plenty of pull out.

Fondulac,

The Python is a Model 12S. "S" is for single place. It has full span ailerons, increased aileron deflection, balanced rudder, clipped wings, carbon cowl, titanium firewall, titanium exhaust, titanium canopy frame. It has many things deleted including wing tank, front seat and front controls. It has a light weight gear and magnesium wheels. There are other changes too. The objective was to get it as light as we could and put the M14PF engine on it.

The Ti-12 is also a model 12S but it has some additional changes to it beyond what we did on the python. It is 25lb lighter and has more power. The wings and tail are changed again but the details of just what we did will stay quiet for a while until we complete the next single seater in about a month.

Hey Dave, I've flown in the full scale one your scheme was patterned after! The builder/owner lives about 5 minutes from my home flying field...

Wow Andrew, very nice. How does it fly or are you still assembling? I know Mark Trent had one of these (I believe he lost it and got another and then sold that one?) You don;t hear too much about these planes so it would be great to have a flight report/feedback on how they fly.

Looks like it flies pretty darn good to me.....saved this from a thread awhile back, I have files just for these Pitts Model 12's...I love'em. If I could afford a compy, I would have one.
The video is actually of a Comp-Arf "Python" version.
