Default Extra 260 of Hangar 9

Hi Guys
I'm just putting together my brand new Extra 260 of Hangar9. I just can't wait till is finished. Is anybody out there flying this plane allready. Have you any pictures or video? If you got a picture that shows the inside of the plane that would be great too. I realy wonder how it's flying . Thanks Tom

I had one it flew great for about the first 10 Minuets. Then the aileron link failed and the plane went in. The link that failed is the one that screws onto the control horn screw that goes through the control surface. The supplied screws that come with them are too short. Save your self some trouble and replace them with longer screws and a lock nut on the outside. I had mine set up with a DA 50, Menz 22-8 prop, Hi-tec 5945's all around except the throttle and choke. If you use the DA 50 make sure that you use the back position for the rudder servo, that will make the plane much easier to balance. Without a spinner on it it balanced without any added weight. My spinner was not in yet. I would have been able to balance with the spinner, by just moving my receiver back.

Hope this helps.

Tom,

The plane that you've watched on gholamipour.com is my plane. Like Wizard said if you install the rudder servo at tail, you shouldn't have problem balancing the plane. I used pull-pull and I had to move the batter way back in the fuse, hardly you can get your hand in there but some how I mangaed and strap the battery to one of the formers. I did make 2 posts to strengthen the former and not put too much load on it. Anyway, plane will fly great. You can not find a better deal than the 260. I think it's a great first gaser with a lot to offer! I enjoyed mine for 7 months and flew it many times. Until I put it down but not that bad. I sold it to a club member and now he's enjoying it as much as I did. You'll like that plane.

I've got a moki 2.1 in mine and it kicks ass. It's a huge floater with minimal coupling. I have been practicing Pattern Intermidiate and Imac so I haven't done any 3d. Awesome bang for the buck in my opinion. CHANGE THE CONTROL HORN BOLTS LIKE WIZARD SAID

Im in Australia and I have been waiting for 3months to get one of those Hanger9 Extra 260

They still havent arrived, nice looking model, I have just purchased a Wild Hare Edge 540T so I will give that a go.

From what I have heard the Hanger9 Extra 260 flys really well with a DA-50 which is what I would have put in this model

Hi,

I have that model with DA 50 ,2 Receivers, 2 Batteries and Digital's around. Very easy flying model even with the extra battery and receiver. The only issue I have had was after about twenty flight the u/c started to delaminate ( know problem) apart from that never had a problem. Flies great. If you have any question just ask.

Hi Marpman,
Did you order the Wild Hare direct. If so any hassles.

Guys, I'm on my second H9 X260 running a BME 44 and while it flys great, it does seem to land a little fast. I've never heard anyone else mention that, so I am wondering if it's just me? Other than that, nice airplane!

Gary,

You should be able to land that plane slow unless you are heavy in general or nose heavy. Check your CG.

Guys, just seen some more replays on that Extra 260 topic.
Thank you very much about your comments and hints. I'm still building my Extra 260 and looking forward to fly it. I've got a MVVS 45 mounted and it's gona turn a 24-10 prop.

I'm running my CG at 5-1/4" back from the LE. Is anyone else running their CG any further back? IF so, are you getting any bad tendencies by going further back?

i love hanger 9 260's they are great planes. i have built 2 of them, both running the same set up, the first one is flying perfict!!! but the 2nd one devoliped a bad wing flutter (both wings at the same time) causing me to strip the ail servos and crashing it at joe nall on tue. i feel that i had a faulity airframe because when i got the plane back both wings were fractured at the last two ribs that are at the end of the tubes and i was running 107 oz torque metal gear servos and alum. arms. and was only flying at a little under 1/2 thro. and was flat and level. but i am going to get another one because i love how the plane flyes. all i will say to do is run a little thin ca over the major joints because the factory glue is a little week.
