Default DA 100 problem

hey guys, ive got a problem with my DA 100. motor runs fine and has great power. but lots of times when i go on a vertical upline and do a snap(with power) the motor deadsticks. its the old 100 on ks cans swining a biela 26x10 3 blade. ive checked the tank and there is fuel in the line and after i land i can fire it up again and it runs fine. what could be a possible problem.?

Possibly a tad too lean. Try turning the h/s needle out 1/8 turn and see how it does.

One thing to check is all of your electrical connections on the ignition system. I had a loose plug connection on my ignition system and it would only deadstick on vertical upline snaps.... If you run the plane on the ground with the canopy off and pull on each of the wires and connections from the ignition system you may find a faulty connection. Of course it may also be related to the fuel system.

Check that you tank clunk is not flush against the back of the tank. Needs about 1/4 clearance.

I have to agree with Professor on this one. From what you are saying about not losing fuel to the engine is sounds like the engine is losing fire.
If you are using the power pole connectors on your ignition I would cut them off and use a good solid connector like a deans.

If this isn't the problem then I would look at other electrical connections because it soulds like an electrical problem to me.

Could also be an ignition battery going bad.

I'd do the ground test looking at wires and connections and if that doesn't show anything I'd replace the ignition battery, climb high and try the snap again (expecting the dead stick).

Or . . . send it to DA and make sure that the engine is not the problem . . .

bill-no i didnt touch the carb.

although i do agree with everyone who is aying that the elctrical could be an issue. im going to check all the plugs. and i mgiht change out that connector if it is the problem but it is strapped securely. and ill also pull out the tank and take a lok and see if the clunk line didnt slide back and butt up against the tank.

thanks for the responses guys.

Harv......forgot to mention. Maybe a sparkplug is carboned up as well. I had a friend with a 46% Ulti. Every time he flew at one specific angle/heading and throttle setting his plane would go into lockout. We tried everything to fix the problem. After 2 months of this and that we changed the plugs and the problem was gone.

I had the exact same issues some time back, after a dozen or so deadsticks and alot of troubleshooting... we found that my vent line from the tank had a sharp bend not allowing the tank to vent..... changed out all my fuel lines and no issues since.... Good Luck

Doesnt sound like anything engine related to me. If you have tried everthing listed above and still cant figure it out send it in and we can take a look at it. Are there any optical kill switchs in the plane?
