For about the same cost as a DA 150 with stock muffler, you can convert it to electric

I'll have to put more flights into this to totally prove this, but from the early result, this is very promising. After each landing, the motor and ESC is only LUKE WARM. So there are definitely room to go (as well as a lot of safety and headroom).

If you break it down, the cost isn't that much different from a DA150 on stock muffs
NEU 2225 1Y with P62 Gearbox and finned can: 1100
CC Phoenix ICE 160HV: $270
4 x 6S 5000 25C FlightMax: 180

Total: 1550

DA 150: 1395
Stock Muffler: 165

Total 1560

For the price of a cannister setup, you can easily buy two more sets of batteries. With three set of batteries and some charger, you should be good to go for "all day" flying. For most people, that's enough, since I've observed that most don't fly more than 3 flights anyway .
would this battery setup last for 10-12min. in imac you can figure around 10min for your sequences and figure some holding pattern time also. a good friend of mine last yr got real lucky. he was in a holding pattern for a few minutes, flew his sequences and on the taxi in, engine quit. out of gas. larger fuel tank was installed.

I'd use 6 and that should give 10 min needed to run through two sequences.

One major challenge at these power levels is to minimize the electrical resistance of every connection and wire in the circuit between battery and motor. Even 0.001 ohms of additional resistance reduces power noticeably.

Every solder joint must be perfect. If connectors are used between ESC and motor, they should be appropriately sized and regularly inspected. Connectors betwwen the batts and ECS should also be regularly checked for any signs of arcing, overheating, etc.

BoneDoc is probably limited by the ESC resistance limitations and by the internal resistance of the batteries.

BoneDoc - have you looked at the logged data from your ICE 160? It would be interesting to see the droop in supply voltage and actual current delivered by the batteries.
