Thanks xnaron! That explains a lot!

Here is back of my radio. I just used a little hot glue to rout the coax up toward the antenna. This way its not covering the sensor port or anything like that.

I added the gray foam "shoulder pads" to make the radio easier to hold. When the radio is oriented so the antenna is pointing towards the ground it all the weight is held by two finders on those pads. If the radio is held so that its horizontal then give you leverage to push down on. The radio is bottom heavy so there is some fatigue associated with trying to keep it from tipping up in your hands. These pads help out a lot. It's just foam rubber floor tiles stuck on with 3M77.

I changed out my Nimh battery in favor of a 2100 mah Lipo. That change took a lot of weight off the bottom. I'd bet you'd find mine a lot easier to hold on to.

Recieved my Aurora today, isn't free reciever cupon included any more with radio set ? . Or it's just an offer from certain sellers ?

Nice conpsiracy theory with wiring, but it's not possible to see wire on my radio at the same angle angle as on pictures. I can say that no fancy editing took place.

I wonder why everyone is getting there nickers in a twist about that little wire

Also as for weight distribution, start using a tray and your problems are over

He does have a point, Hitec is a Korean radio, and sell world wide, so it should apply to everyone not just in the US...

I was referring to the picture he took. But yes the free rx offer should be for everyone. Not fair at all.

From what I understand the coupon is located inside the manual. If it isn't there you should contact Hitec.

I believe that in fact the rx offer is for everyone but you have to pay the shipping to get it outside of NA. I think there was a guy from sweden that got one.

I'v purchased Aurora 9 from UK and I do not have free reciever cupon.

Contacted Hitec later and they replied that cupons are for US only.

Now I know that I should have purchased it from US not UK , but I didn't do that, which makes me feel like casual customer. And that is what I get from Hitec for christmas .

Satisfied by the radio itself, it's simply amazing in my opinion !

Sorry guys, the coupons are for Aurora's purchased in the USA and Canada, and the free RX can only be shipped to a physical address in North America.

Mike.

(Maybe there is something I missed here but it seems like you cant remove the antenna without opening the case as the radio arrives from the factory)

You could internalize the antenna. If you did you would have to disconnect the antenna from the module OR unscrew the antenna mast every time out opened the case up. This is because there is a hard plastic ring on the front of the case that the antenna passes through. If that ring was part of the back of the case it would be easy to deal with.

That why I haven't done it to mine, opening the case up would become a real PITA. Disconnecting the little micro coax connector is something in leery of also, those are delicate.

What I did do was hot glue the coax to the module so its not so likely to get snagged. I'll post a pic tonight.
Thanks Gareth...Lets say the antenna wire is inside the antenna mast and mounted inside of the module on the inside of the radio through a hole. With the antenna and mast in place on the back cover do you think it would be possible to slip the antenna through the hole on the front case and attach the back to the front and reassemble the case?

thanks,
Brendin
