just like to add you need to have heavy duty wiring and switches to accommodate the current draw.

I think the fromeco li-po blackjacks will be ok, what do you think Mike or anyone. They are rated at 10C(56 amps)

Mike, I continue to follow the 6 volt v 6.6 volt A123 v 7.4 volt LiPo saga.

Do you have any one-on-one comparison of the 7955 and 7950 at 6.6 and 7.4 volts? In particular, many of us are questioning the real world benefit in torque & speed of the A123 v runnning a LiPo.

The A123 has proven to be a bullet proof armored car. What benefit do I really gain if I move up to a 7.4 set up?

Does the 7950 buzz and jitter like the 7955?

I've got 8 of these 7950s on the way for my new Dalton (your name here build). I just ordered and got in some batteries from Hobby City/King- 3700mh 20C Rhinos for $20 each. I'm going to run my ignition directly off them as well with a MPI miracle switch. I'm going to test out all this stuff in my Wild Hare before it goes into the Dalton. I'll let you guys know. I do think that LiIons for the servos unregulated is not going to cut it. It will work, but higher amp draws will sag the voltage. This wears the batteries out faster too. So Milo, If I were you I'd use a LiPo around 3500+ mah. through deans connectors into a powerexpander or power safe RX. I would use the builtin failsafe switch on both. Hope that helps.

The slighlty lower voltage of the A123's would reduce the speed and torque by about 10% vs. Lipo's but increase it 10% over 6V regulated.

As I mentioned previously we've flown the 7950's (one on each elevator half of the 42% Aeroworks Yak) regulated to 6V with great success . Link to post with video here: http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...tml#post791624

I've had great success the past 3 years with A123's in my last 3 planes. My next has a stand alone 2600 lipo and a full complement of HV servos and receiver. No switches, no charge jacks, no regulators, no power expanders no nothing. About as simple and bullet proof as one can get....

This is just me, but I'd go with the LiPos since you're on 2.4. The Li-ions were great but I would just assume use LiPos for the higher discharge capacity on a giant scale plane.

guys, i put a krill yak in last month because i ran my batteries flat. i swapped out my 5955's and put in 7950's and the current draw must have been a bit more. yes i didnt check my batteries. 2x 5200mah liions.

i am not posting to bag the product, i am using the same servos in my new yak because of the power, speed and centering is first class. i also know that when all the other servos are changing gearsets the 7950's will be still going strong.

i am not bagging liions or the 7950's all i am saying is that after 4 flights check your batteries.

Check you Li-on batts before every flight. One of the perks of using Li-on batts is you can check them and be sure their good for the next flight.
