What is your setup?

To me having a problem with all your servos indicates one common problem, Either TX, RX, or Batts. I had a problem with one of my old planes with the antenna placement being too close to carbon fiber and gave me fits for a while trying to find the problem. .

Do you have any one-on-one comparison of the 7955 and 7950 at 6.6 and 7.4 volts? In particular, many of us are questioning the real world benefit in torque & speed of the A123 v runnning a LiPo.

The A123 has proven to be a bullet proof armored car. What benefit do I really gain if I move up to a 7.4 set up?
The speed difference between 6.6 and 8.4v is pretty noticeable.

I would say the benefit is pretty substantial when going between 6.6 and 8.4v. If you go by the TBM servo comparisons the 7955 unregulated only made 288oz/in on 7.2v I would like to have at least that much torque from my servos so for me the benefit is worth going to the lipos.

I'm not sure how the battery draw differs between 7955 and the 7950 on unregulated voltage. If it helps I'm running two 2600mah lipos and on a typical 10-12 minute flight and 8-7955 and 1 JR DS 821 I'm burning about 450mah per flight.

Grey, I am using 6.6v NiMH straight through a switch to the Hitec RX and straight out to the servos,,,,simple as can be less stuff = less things to F---Up.

Should be part of your preflight checking, whilst fueling up your plane, plug your 8 ball checker into your plane and check your Voltage, that way you make sure you're not going to have any dramas

Scott
do you have a charge lead coming off your battery? if so you can load check the battery through there. Also if you have a data logger you can use it to display the current voltage and lowest voltage after a flight.

All true however, this plane is electric power and main battery change out after every flight is a requirement. I 'll be swapping the RX lipo out after the 3rd flight with a fresh one while the spent one recharges along with the main power batteries. No need for any outside charge/test ports.

I've known plenty of people who never check and don't even own a checker. That said I don't personally like doing that. All you have to have is something start to go out or bind for some unknown reason and that draws your packs down more than normal and - boom, your packs are suddenly way lower than you think.

True, but I still check my pack before every flight most of the time.

I think you should definitely check bat's every flight, especially running several high torque digital servos,I think its a good idea to run a Fromeco D cup to,(capacitor thingy) I have seen people have lots of radio glitches trying to run NIMH'sI think they don't let enough currant out under a high servo load and cause brown outs on reciever, especially 2.4ghz.

I currently run 2 DC-ups on 34% with no issues. The lowest voltage I see per flight is 6.2 and the cups read 6.3 all the time. This bird has 8 5955's regulated

Guys, I'm intrested in getting this servo.

But is there any conclusion about what is better between the Hitec 7950TG, or JR 8711, or JR 8711HV in a AW Yak or Ultimate both 150cc??

That's like asking who makes the best truck Dodge, Ford, or Chevy. Everyone will have an opinion.

I've always been very happy with 5985/7985's and 5955/7955's. I'm looking forward to trying out the 7950's.
