Guys, I have this 9C that I have not used much in the past five years since I moved to JR and large gas planes. However, I still have a couple of glow-powerd planes that are set up for the 9C that I fly every so oftern.
My question is: how do I set up a flight mode on the 9C? Is the 9C capable of flight modes? Thank you for taking the time to answer. Bobby aka TDD |

I use a T9CAP but I'm not sure what you mean by flight modes. You can certainly do high/low rates.

Bobby,
Flight modes/conditions are not available in the 9C. Current Futaba radios that have conditions/modes are the 12 series and higher. |

You can put all your rates on one switch, and mixes on the same switch if you want. Full switch assignability allows a lot of flexibility in how you want to set your airplane up.

Those all need to be done as pmixes, as I don't think the radio has rud-elev and rud-ail built in. Go to the advanced menu, and set up a pmix with rudder being the master and (elev in this case) being the slave. Turn the link on and trim off, and set the switch for the mix to any switch and the position needs to be NULL to be active full time. Set the amount of mixing you want in each direction, fly, and adjust as necessary. Do the same with the ailerons, except turn the link ON.
To do the downline mixing, what I normally do is run one of the five-point pmixes (6 and 7 are the 5-point mixes). Throttle as master, elev as slave. I just set the point where throttle is at idle to have 1 or 2% down elevator, set the mix switch position to NULL, fly and adjust. Alternatively you can run an elev to elev offset mix, set the mix switch as the throttle stick, and set the position to be where the throttle stick is at idle. Hope this gets you started in the right direction. |

Flyfalcons might do it differently than me, but I would use the Pmixes already in the 9C. Assign all the mixes you need to the same switch. If you have the manual, it's on page 64 walks you through exactly what you want. . Manuals are on the website, www.Futaba-rc.com http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/9c-su...ies-manual.pdf

Bobby, I read your question about the throttle mixing incorrectly. I thought you were asking about a downline mix. I would still recommend using the five-point mix for your needs, and adjust each point to the amount of down elevator you want for the range of travel in the throttle stick.

Guys, thank you all for helping me. I just got back from the shop after programming the 9C just like you suggested. It works! It's not as easy as the JR 10X/12X but it works. I'll test fly it tomorrow and do the fine tuning. I am using a EZ Sport 40 with a Saito 80 and just to try to make it more "aerobatic" I thought I would try to mix out all of the coupling just to see how it would work. I wanted to try it using a "flight mode" that I could switch it on and off if I didn't like it.
Thanks again. Bobby |

Personally I keep all my rudder coupling mixes active at all times. Fortunately you can try out your mixes by placing them on a switch, then later if you like them just change the stick position to null and you won't have to worry about forgetting to activate them again. Good luck getting your bird in the air.
